The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 But what's our excuse about the others above us? http://the72.co.uk/2013/12/01/all-72-average-away-attendances/ I know tickets tend to be cheaper in L1 but we're flying ffs!
Harry - LCFC Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Cov don't have a home ground so they're out the window already. Would've been on about 500 in normal circumstances.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 2 December 2013 Author Posted 2 December 2013 Wolves? Forest? (whos following we tend to enjoy mocking)
pSinatra Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Have Derby stopped giving away mobile phones? Their's seems a bit low. The list seems to be closely linked to the size of city/town.
Harry - LCFC Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Forest have had a more positive feeling at the club overall I think - think how negative we were initially, we've only started to become optimistic in recent weeks. I imagine we'll overtake them eventually. Wolves have shocked me a bit I have to say. Didn't expect them to do that well.

If you go on their forum now it seems like its half populated by Nottinghams own DT and Seenitall. I dont but into the 'negative feeling' our fans were supposed to have. We hit the ground running and havent stopped thus far. Forest have been to Yeovil too (lowest away allocation in our league I believe)
Guest ttfn Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Well... Wolves are doing what we did in League One (but with bigger numbers), so fair play to them, I hope they're having a bloody great time. Forest's numbers will have been boosted by having played away at us at 3pm on a Saturday and also Wigan, where they took about 4,000 and a whole end. I wouldn't be surprised at all if we do the same, the prospect of getting a whole end tends to bring more fans out. Coventry are a complete freak case. Basically I think we'll end up where we are now in this particular table at the end of the season, but a lot closer to (and maybe even above) Forest. Middlesbrough's away numbers are outstanding. 1500 with the shit they've been served up, in a community that impoverished and remote? That is astonishing.
Trumpet Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Other than Coventry, it's pretty much as i'd expect it to look.
Fox92 Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Wolves have always had a good following, as have Nottingham Forest. I know Coventry take more away from home nowadays, so I'm not surprised to see them up there. Huddersfield used to be well supported as well, I remember when they filled the Walkers during the League One season... Teams like Derby and Burnley have always had good support as well, so if they continue to do well I'd imagine they start taking more of 'an interest' this season. I'd expect it to look as it is, although Watford surprise me a bit but they did have a good season last season.
promised land Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Didn't Cov take around 7,000 to MK Dons this weekend? That would bump their average up no end, a strange season for their attendances. Reading seem to be the Fulham of the championship, very poor travellers. Portsmouth have a good following after all they have had thrown at them.
Kitchandro Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Wolves have always had a good following, as have Nottingham Forest. Koke Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Sheffield Wednesday have consistently been good travellers. They always fill our away end, 3200. Leeds are the biggest club in this division and are rightly up there. Wolves are doing what we were doing in League One. I think we'll end up above Forest come May. Coventry are homeless, so theirs are a special case. Fair play to Wednesday. I know they have a big fanbase but they have been watching absolute dross this season, and last season wasnt much better. But their away following is outstanding.
Fox92 Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 What the hell? What is 'well supported' in your book? Derby's home attendance is constantly good. They used to travel well as well, especially when the team are doing well, but have been constantly rubbish since they were relegated. Burnley have the best support if you calculate attendance by size of the place! They are playing well now, and they've started travelling well again I think. Think they took 3500 on Saturday. I need to look at the attendances. (Of course I'm going a bit back).
Dan Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Wolves against us in League One is a far fairer comparison. They were always going to travel in numbers after years of absolute shit and now they're being sent to new grounds, at half the price they'll have been paying only two years ago, and they're winning games. Forest are a bunch of bandwagon hoppers. I saw one from 11/12 and we were well ahead of them. They're all on the King Billy bandwagon and I do think eventually they'll all slowly fall off it. Coventry are a rare case. One season of taking more than us doesn't make them better - especially when a lot of their fans will be doing aways rather than homes. We'd be taking the same numbers in their position. Sheff Weds & Leeds are simply better supported. I think with us it's also a poor fixture list so far. Wait until we've been to Wigan, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Brighton, Birmingham etc... so we can add some good numbers. It doesn't help that most of our big hitters for away numbers are either midweek or on TV. QPR would've been an easy 3k now we'll get about half that. What's the crack with Blackburn? How the hell is theirs so high?

Wolves have very under-rated support.
Dan Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Reading are more tinpot than Blackpool. Reading are the worst in the league for me. Absolutely appalling following considering it's only a bit smaller than Leicester. Appalling vocally too.
Bert Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 This. They're very much like us in 11/12. Wolves have very under-rated support. They travel well but vocally they are shit. Maybes went in the away end v Notts County and said it was awful.
Maybes Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 This. They're very much like us in 11/12. Wolves have very under-rated support. Wolves have always taken good numbers. I was in their end at County and it was ****ing tragic. The vocal support was horrendous. Ha, beat me to it Rob!

Couldn't really judge them last year with it being on a Thursday. Oh well, at least I learned Bert's real name. "Bert" makes sense now...
Corky Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Wolves against us in League One is a far fairer comparison. Dan Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 They've been to Burnley and Wigan so far. True actually, and Blackpool. Agree with what someone said about Middlesbrough actually. In a lot of ways I'd argue that's the best in the league bar Leeds. EDIT; Worth mentioning they've still got to go to Bournemouth, Brighton, Millwall, Reading, Watford & Yeovil, as well as us, Derby and Birmingham. Ours aren't amazing this year but they'll pick up. I think a l lot of it is bad luck. I'm often a critic of us vocally but we've been far more like it this year IMO.
Grewks Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 To be fair, we haven't played many of the sides which we usually get higher away attendances against. Brum, forest, Leeds, Barnsley etc. We have also been to a hell of a lot of smaller and less 'inspiring' stadia. Blackpool, yeovil, donny etc. I would fully expect our average attendance to increase to around 2600-2800, or 3000 if we achieve promotion.
Koke Posted 2 December 2013 Posted 2 December 2013 Middlesbrough's home support is absolute wank though. Even when they were a Premier League club their ground often had loads of empty seats.
