Finnaldo Posted 15 January 2014 Posted 15 January 2014 Quick update concerning the new club in Hinckley. Tonight a meeting was held at the Claredon in Hinckley regarding several key components of the new club including a vote on both the name and club colours, as well as a new constitution for membership and the voting of the Chairman. Although I was unable to attend I've received the following information from a friend who did attend. It was confirmed that the club will be called Hinckley AFC and play in the previous red and blue after a majority vote of 78. The runner-up, violet and white, with a total of 36 votes will be the away colours. Although no vote or talk was held at the meeting on nicknames, The Phoenix has been mulling around, as well I'd imagine the old knitters. Any of those on here who hail from Hinckley or the surrounding area, now is the time to get involved. It's the reintroduction of local football to Hinckley and I'll make sure to keep all those interested updated on any meetings, announcements or events that may take place. Again it's a vital time to get involved and the club needs your help to reform.
Leicesterpool Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Good luck to them, will they be returning to the Greene King?
Finnaldo Posted 16 January 2014 Author Posted 16 January 2014 What level are they likely to re-form at? According to the Supporter's Direct representative, an organisation that deals mostly with reforming clubs, it will probably be a Non-league level 6-8. I think with a decent support and good sponsorship they could be out of those leagues pretty quickly, however.
Finnaldo Posted 16 January 2014 Author Posted 16 January 2014 Good luck to them, will they be returning to the Greene King? The Greene King is a very complicated and mysterious situation at the moment. I do havd some limited information in it but a lot of it no one knows, apart from those involved. I'll tell you what I can.At the moment, the stadium itself is under the possession of a Mr. Coos (I think that's how it's spelt). He's quite notorious for wrapping up clubs, so it's quite obvious that Hinckley's original liquidation was down to him. Obviously it's hard to get a stadium off a man who purposely wrapped up the first club, but there's been no end of rumours and police investigations surrounding it. No ones sure what's happening or where we stand on it apart from those involved. One possibility is that he wanted to wrap up Hinckley and use the facilities for the youth club, who are a separate entity. However a representative from the youth club openly said at the meeting back in December that the youth team was fuly behind the reformed club, in hope they could finally merge. Obviously as separate entities the youth team felt depreciated by the first team and there were even conflicts between the two. If the youth team is indeed what Coo wants, the youth team could easily turn round and tell their players not to turn up. A demonstration almost. That would force his hand a bit to negotiating with the club and the council. However, it's all speculation and we're not quite sure what happening.
Uncle Albert Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Great news! Good luck to all who are involved.
Finnaldo Posted 16 January 2014 Author Posted 16 January 2014 Great news! Good luck to all who are involved. Cheers! The best anyone can do at the moment is spread the word. At the moment there's a Facebook page called 'Hinckley AFC' that has all the latest developments. It's building momentum pretty fast is approaching 200 likes, which is decent when it's only been up for a week. The best hope for the new club is a strong foundation and anyone is welcome to join any meeting in the future. The club will work using a 'community club' model. This is a democratic system in which you will pay a subscription (no news on this yet) to be a member, which allows you to vote in a chairman and the board. This allows for a lot more transparency and means power is in possession of the fans rather than a single wealthy investor. It also has been proven to attract more sponsorship and with big, local businesses close by (Triumph and, to a lesser extent, Caterpillar) and therefore prove a key asset. All in all it's a very good system and I hope people will join us and help move the club forward.
jonthefox Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Good luck with this. The wifes from Hinckley , so i guess i could deem these my second team.
Beliall Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 excellent news. good luck i hope they manage to reform.
Horibbly Wrong Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 Fin, I'm following one of the Hinckley AFC pages on FB but it only has 25 likes (now 26 with me).. Am I looking ath the right thing? BTW, I'd love to see the team play within walking distance of the town again, god knows where the ground could be though
Leicesterpool Posted 16 January 2014 Posted 16 January 2014 It just such a shame to see the Greene King unused, it's a fantastic non league ground.

Rincewind Posted 26 February 2014 Posted 26 February 2014 Can't see a thread on this. Heard on Radio Leicester that a group are close to acqiring the old ground. There are others put tenders in but it is up to the administers. The chairman was on but said he could not give any details out but hopeful there will be news next week.
