Father Ted Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Am I the only one who will have some regrets if we do get promoted? I like playing on Saturdays, I like winning a lot ,I like being able to get tickets that I don't have to pay for with a mortgage, I like the unpredictability of the league,. Thoughts? Disagree with a lot of this! Think we'll end up playing a lot of Saturday 3pm's! TV games are usually left for the big boys. Regarding ticket prices, we would be a fairly unattractive prospect for many so the lowest pricing category would probably be implemented when teams play us - so we wouldn't be paying prices too dissimilar to what we currently are. Granted, we'll go to places such as the Etihad, Stamford Bridge, Emirates, Anfield and expect nothing but who knows?! Football is a funny old game and this is what makes it beautiful. My ultimate dream would be to see us play in Europe, unfortunately I was too young to follow us in '97 and 2000 but would go anywhere this time around.
Raj Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Ultimate dream to play in Europe????..mine IF we do go up....would be just to stay up!!!!
shailen Posted 8 February 2014 Posted 8 February 2014 Leicester fans still talk about when we drew 2-2 with man city with bamba et al. What if we had more stories like this. It is more than likely we will lose more than we win, but doesn't the thought of knockeart showcasing his skills against hazard, or Morgan keeping the likes of Rooney Suarez aguero out; sound a lot better then keeping the likes of Austin, Ings...etc. yes we won't be winning as many games, but the quality of football and hence the entertainment will be be better
ousefox Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 get promoted. have 1 season in the prem getting a few good results at home against a top team or two, pocket the tv money then get relegated. pocket the parachute payments, then invest the money into the academy and young players. build the club for long term success. FM style. WYS Or stay in the prem, pocket the money from tv rights and invest...
Corky Posted 9 February 2014 Posted 9 February 2014 Regrets? Not a chance. The whole point of really enjoying the Championship is winning most weeks and getting in a promotion race. We've seen enough in the last decade of the other side- the mediocrity, the struggle, the desperate football. Yes, the last two seasons in the Premier League weren't all that enjoyable but still far preferable to that crap served up, we still had some memorable games- beating Leeds 4-0, drawing with the Invincibles, winning at Villa Park in 2001, the 3-0 win at Man City. What was really comparable between 2004 and 2008? We've been in the relative wilderness for too long, no top flight football for a decade. In the previous decade 8 years were spent playing the best sides in the country. I don't subscribe to all the hype surrounding the Premier League but it's the best level we can hope for and should aim for it. The money is a side issue for me, the challenge of facing the top teams for league points is the most important factor. Big games, better atmospheres and being the underdog are all very appealing. Plus fewer midweek matches.
