Collo73 Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Not been to Blackburn since we lost 1-0 in the fa cup quarter final where we filled the fernhurst pub and it's car park! Apparently this pub doesn't allow away fans anymore so where are the masses of city fans gonna be drinking?
Bayfox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Me neither. Is that the pub on the walk down to the ground? Think we parked at some school last time. Anyone been more recently?
Vlad the Fox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Last time I went was in the O'Neill days. We drank in a decent place near the ground with pool and table football, big room if I remember, my mate seems to think it was a converted mill or warehouse but the only thing I can find on google maps is the mill hill working men's club. Does this sound families to anyone?
Dan Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Pubs for away fans these days are an absolute joke I swear.
Unabomber Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 There seems to be hardly anything on offer near the ground. Might have to stop somewhere on the way to fuel up.
Voll Blau Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Preston might be an idea if you're going by rail as I would guess most will have to change there anyway?
Unabomber Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 We're driving so hopefully will find a pub on the way at a services.
Collo73 Posted 16 March 2014 Author Posted 16 March 2014 Just been doing me homework on this and appears the golden cup pub just off the m55 is the haunt for away fans now. It's a 20min walk to ground
Killiefox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 The Fernhurst pub which was once popular with visiting fans, now no longer admits away supporters This means that there are no pubs for away fans near to the stadium. John Chadbourne a visiting Nottingham Forest supporter recommends Uncle Jacks on Branch Road; 'It welcomes away fans, has an excellent selection of beers, cask ales as well as some brilliant pies. It is only a ten minute walk from the ground'. There is the Golden Cup pub which is further on past the Fernhurst (going away from the ground) on Bolton Road and is tucked in by the motorway bridge. However this Thwaites pub is quite small, gets rather crowded and it is a good 20 minute (mostly uphill) trek from Ewood Park. It is friendly though and also offers a range of pies. On the other side of the motorway on the same road going further away from Ewood Park towards Darwen is the Anchor Hotel, which is also frequented by away fans. Just around the corner from the entrance to Blackburn Railway Station is a Wetherspoons outlet called the Postal Order. Alcohol is also served within the ground in the form of; Fosters (£3.40 pint), Thwaites (£3.40 pint), Kingstone Cider (£3.20 bottle), Carlsberg (£3.40 bottle), Guinness (£3.80 can) and Wine (£3.80 small bottle). The Club offer two pints of lager or bitter for £6.50 and Pie & Pint for £5.50.
Bayfox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Well done for copy and paste from the football ground guide. But hes a fword fan!!!!
Killiefox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 If you have something better to offer Bayfox please share it.
Vlad the Fox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Can you still park on the car park on the carpark by the ground?
Bayfox Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 If you have something better to offer Bayfox please share it. Read my previous post. Havent been for a few years. But we can all read football ground guide. I asked if people had been recently. Not learnt how to copy and paste.
Dan Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 Preston might be an idea if you're going by rail as I would guess most will have to change there anyway? That's a good shout actually...
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 16 March 2014 Posted 16 March 2014 That's a good shout actually... Not if you've already booked trains Postal Order for breakfast then find a pub somewhere, possible Uncle Jacks
Voll Blau Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 What's the consensus here lads? Bloke I work with seems to think the Adelphi next to Blackburn station is rough but away-friendly enough.
Unabomber Posted 20 March 2014 Posted 20 March 2014 Think I am going to either Uncle Jacks or the Golden Cup.
Manny2802 Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Uncle Jacks is what im thinking as it seems quite a few are as well and apparently away fans friendly
Unabomber Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 It's annoying how it is such a trek from the station the the pub. Might have to get a taxi.
4ever and ever Posted 21 March 2014 Posted 21 March 2014 Does Uncle Jacks have Sky for the Sheep v Florist game?
