MC Prussian Posted 25 March 2014 Posted 25 March 2014 You ought to watch the documentary "The Two Escobars" then. Sheds some more light on the situation in Colombia at the time.

Anyone who is football fan should watch this, it's the best documentary I have ever seen. Brilliant. It's chilling hearing what some of those players went through at WC 2004 and how a whole footballing country was controlled by drug lords. That was some Colombian team, I watched their 5-0 demolition of Argentina in Buenos Aires, were brilliant. I remember the news of him coming through like it was yesterday, what a World Cup 1994 was, it literally had everything.

The Pablo Escobar involvement sits nicely with my 2nd favourite documentary - 'Cocaine Cowboys'. That guy had some serious cajones.
Donut Posted 26 March 2014 Posted 26 March 2014 This all went way beyond football, it was a country in complete dissaray and its shocking to read. USA 94 was the first world cup i can really remember vividly but at the age of 8, i was completely unaware of the sheer scale of social turmoil in the country at the time.

I often think that might have been why I enjoyed it, no home nation so just could relax and enjoy the football without all the bullshit that goes with it. The times are great as well, same reason this summer should be absolutely superb.

It's incredible how the dread those players experienced in USA '94 seeps right into you when you hear them talk.
