marko Posted 8 July 2014 Posted 8 July 2014 McCormack, I think, was top scorer in a poor Leeds side two years running, club captain, and apparently a good bloke to have in the dressing room. 11 million! Wow.. But it could be the signing of the summer. Only scored 5 goals in the 2012/13 season.

Guest MattP Posted 8 July 2014 Posted 8 July 2014 English football's become too daft to laugh at. It has long before this, did anyone notice Bernat went to Bayern last night?, probably the best young left back in Europe, 8million. Compare that to Luke Shaw. It's laughable. Yes it has, but it's happening. People need to get used to it or meaningfully campaign for change. How many Fulham fans, I wonder, will boycott their season tickets because 'their club' has splashed out 11 on McCormack? None? I bet they're actually very excited, though they might not say that. The Leeds fans seem happier, I think that says it all. It doesn't matter if they do they or not, this isn't going to stop, clubs have sold their soul to the devil. The only way some fans might turn around if if a couple of real big names go bankrupt but we live in that much of an impatient society this days I sometimes even wonder of the fans will gamble the club for a year in the top flight. (We've all forgotten about Pompey already haven't we?) When you ask for reasons why the England team is failing here's another one , no desire from anywhere in our own clubs to actually develop talent, Fulham bought a couple of promising teens on last year after they were relagated, they'll now go back to the reserves while the 23million Mitroglou and McCormack play up front. Why would anyone care?, Fulham are a owned by a foreigner whose only desire is to see his team in the PL? I bet they are. Bless their deluded souls. They won't go up and if they do it'll be QPR/West Ham-esque, ie.. having comfortably the most expensive squad and scraping promotion by the skin of their teeth so all is forgotten. It's a shambles. Remind me why clubs get parachute payments again? They're the first thing I'd scrap. See how much thoughtless spending occurs then. Fulham don't need them. They've just proven that. Yep You can imagine them now, 'we're gonna walk the league' - 'He'll score 30 goals' (they should check is record, it's actually very patchy) That's fans for you nowadays, we didn't spend anything last summer so no one expected anything Spot on with Parachute payments, the most unfair thing about the division imo. Fortunately not many competant managers are out there to spend it so it's still wide open for sides like Burnley to make it. Don't fall into that trap Dan.. It could be that MCCormack is exactly the player they need to get promotion. On the surface it seems crazy crazy money, I give ya. But it could pay off. I can only assume that the either the Fulham Board are clueless (doubt it) or they have taken the decision that they can afford the gamble. McCormack, I think, was top scorer in a poor Leeds side two years running, club captain, and apparently a good bloke to have in the dressing room. 11 million! Wow.. But it could be the signing of the summer. Imagine if they actually looked at Leicester City or Burnley last season (or Cardiff and Hull the year before) and realised that you actually get promotion by getting a good young manager in who knows the Championship inside out and then letting some young players gell together whilst watching the hunger and desire they have to do something amazing sees them to win after win. But let's be honest we know what they'll do, spend spend spend and then watched a manager with no idea about the division sit there wondering why all his 'big names' aren't walking the league. Seen it all before now. Good luck Fulham, this one might not end well if you don't get up in a season. What a way to run a football club. Only scored 5 goals in the 2012/13 season. I was going to say!
Corky Posted 8 July 2014 Posted 8 July 2014 McCormack's last four seasons has seen him score 2, 19, 8 and 29. Nugent's last four seasons has seen him score 14, 16, 16 and 22. They are only a year apart in age. Yet Nugent would never be sold for £11 million, or anyone near to that amount.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 8 July 2014 Posted 8 July 2014 eleven million is quite ridiculous, actually hope they come up though. Not a fan of how they're doing it but I'm a fan of Magath

Gary Eatfood Posted 8 July 2014 Posted 8 July 2014 He's worth £0. Technically yes. If he had a hypothetical 2 years to run on a contract I don't think we'd get any more than about £2-3m for Nuge.
