Nick Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 So we are complaining about fees for the likes of Ulloa and Sky are reporting that Cardiff are ready to offer 9 million for him. Is RM really worth 9 million? Big spending relegated Cardiff! Leeds must be tempted at that kind of money.
StanSP Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 McCormack has always said he will stay at Leeds to see out his contract there. I can't see him moving to another Championship club. Did he used to play for Cardiff? £9m is seriously steep. Stupid amount of money but they can take the 'big-spending' tag away from us with ridiculous spending like that.
Finnegan Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 ****ing parachute payments are an absolute disgrace.
Steven Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Big spending Cardiff. Sean Dickhead not have an opinion on this.
Happy Fox Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 All the 3 relegated teams should get promotion on paper with the money they get from parachute payments but we know football doesn't work like that in reality. I am glad we aren't in the championship.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Fair play to Cardiff. They clearly intend to come straight back up and would be signing last season's Championship leading goal-scorer. 9 million seems steep, but if he gets them up it will be money well spent.

I remember people saying that about Rhodes and Blackburn... Hope the same happens to Cardiff.
MC Prussian Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 In Cardiff City's financial terms, £9m probably counts as a bargain. But yeah, a ridiculous amount of money. Hopefully, all the other clubs' fans will not take the "big spending" tag away from us once and for all and rightfully apply it to the Redbirds from now on.
johnny the fox Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 he could get injured first game and be out for the whole season. its irresponsible spending. clubs never learn.
Fosse93 Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 he could get injured first game and be out for the whole season. its irresponsible spending. clubs never learn. He could also end up being top scorer in the league again and fire them to promotion. 9 mil is far too much though.
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 I remember people saying that about Rhodes and Blackburn... Hope the same happens to Cardiff. Why do you hope that?
kingfox Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 Already signed Guerra, Le Fondre & Macheda, now maybe McCormack. Bit like the Rhodes transfer to Blackburn, bloody ridiculous.

Its a gamble that might pay off, or not? If it does, it makes great sense. Why are Chelsea paying 30 odd mill for Costa? A. Because they can afford it (like Cardiff) B. Because they want trophies. Try to differentiate between whether something might make financial sense and whether it is morally (for want of a better term) right or wrong. The two are different.
Dan Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 ****ing parachute payments are an absolute disgrace. Totally agree. Makes me laugh how some people have actually been suckered in to believing they're a necessity. Only a necessity if you intend to maintain your over-spending. Don't believe for one second he's going for that much. Not even Cardiff are that stupid.

But they can only afford it if they go up straightaway, which is no given. It's a massive risk and if it doesn't pay off the (largely innocent) supporters of Cardiff City could see them doing a Pompey. Risking a clubs future should never be applauded.
indierich06 Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 It amazes me that clubs, managers and owners have still spectacularly failed to grasp that big spending is not only no guarantee of success, it's actually a hindrance in a lot of cases. Who were the last team to 'buy' the Championship? QPR threw an absolute fortune at trying to win the league last season and they only just scraped up through the playoffs at the expense of a much more economically assembled and, some would argue, better side in Derby County. Let them get on with it, I say. Just glad it's not my club.
Brooksy Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 So if this signing comes off, Cardiff's strikers will be : Kenwyne Jones Joe Mason Fraizer Campbell Nicky Maynard Javi Guerra Adam Le Fondre Federico Macheda Ross McCormack
Nick Posted 17 June 2014 Author Posted 17 June 2014 So if this signing comes off, Cardiff's strikers will be : Kenwyne Jones Joe Mason Fraizer Campbell Nicky Maynard Javi Guerra Adam Le Fondre Federico Macheda Ross McCormack Well they'll beat everybody else as they'll be no Championship strikers left in the division for other teams to field. Good thinking.
Fox92 Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 I said it another thread but parachute payments are disgusting. The only time you're rewarded for failure.
Danno Posted 17 June 2014 Posted 17 June 2014 So if this signing comes off, Cardiff's strikers will be : Kenwyne Jones Joe Mason Fraizer Campbell Nicky Maynard Javi Guerra Adam Le Fondre Federico Macheda Ross McCormack McCormack is the only one who stands out. Rest are all overrated crap like Le Fondre.
