Guest LCFC_World Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 No thank you. Peter Crouch is way past his best, and if we want to make the statement that we are there to stay in the Premier League then we need a few 'big name strikers'. £4M or £5M spent on a good striker would be good.
Loyalist Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 Id take Crouchy here all day long. Wont happen though. No chance of us signing some quality.
Grandad. Posted 25 June 2014 Posted 25 June 2014 Wouldn't be a bad signing but like someone has already said, if he is available to clubs then expect QPR to go sniffing.
fazzyfox Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 He could polish the floodlights for us. With no need for the involvement of ladders.
Jace Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 At least someone would finally benefit from the extra long Puma shirt sleeves
Oxfordfox83 Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 He's quality, and I think he'd be a good foil for Nugent or Vardy in certain games. Take him if the price is right. The fact people think Wood is similar is exactly why he hasn't worked here-Wood is a finisher who happens to be tall, whereas Crouch uses his height as his main weapon (despite his oft-lauded feet). If Wood were the height of Michael Owen I think he'd have got further because people wouldn't lump it up to him whenever we have possession...
Oxfordfox83 Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Chris wood, next season he will be playing elsewhere. Fixed. (I think he's a great player, and wish it had worked for him here, but we just don't play well when he's in the team. For that reason, I'm out.)

Which is the problem. Where will we find a "good striker"? You certainly aren't going to find one at that price who is Premier League proven (when talking about statements)...
artursteppe Posted 28 June 2014 Posted 28 June 2014 Word is he could be bought for about £1M or not much more. Hughes prepared to keep him, but mainly for the bench, so he can go, cheap. Not chirpy chirpy cheap cheap, just cheap.
