Moto Hello Posted 20 July 2014 Posted 20 July 2014 Mahrez, Knockaert and Albrighton are known to play best from the right. With just Mahrez and Knockaert this problem was solved by giving them both quite a lot of freedom. Both would pop up on either wing or in the centre. Now that we have three of them and the fact we won't be able to afford them as much freedom against the tougher premier league teams, how do you think Nige will arrange them? I like the idea of Mahrez on the left and Albrighton on the right so they can get plenty of service into the head of Ulloa but this does limit Mahrez's chances of running at players as he would from the right.
Munshi Posted 20 July 2014 Posted 20 July 2014 Mahrez on the left, Albrighton on the right. When Knockaert plays he can go wherever he likes.
Aidyfox Posted 20 July 2014 Posted 20 July 2014 Probably depends on what formation we'll use. Can see us resort back to 5-3-2 away from home quite a bit this year esp vs the better teams. I do however expect us to go for it in home games and result, confidence and performance dependant move to utlising a more positive approach whether it be 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2. Expect knockaert to play wide left and mahrez right for first game with plenty interchanging. I do think despite Albrighton and Ulloa's signitures NP has a definite game plan or plan B if you like, we still could do with that element of raw pace from wide positions neither Mahrez or Knockaert truly have. Would really like us to loan Jordan Ibe in from Liverpool rather than persue this Frazier Campbell stink. Ibe is that raw direct talent (unlike a Zaha or Taarabt etc) with pace in abundance that could be brilliant coming off the bench. He also would cover winger and striker positions but it would require Chris Wood staying too (something I think isn't a bad idea when his replacement is a 1m plus fairly hefty wages Frazier Campbell.
Fox92 Posted 20 July 2014 Posted 20 July 2014 Depends who we play against and whether we're at home or away. Also, if we were to sign Ulloa then three behind him wouldn't work in certain games. He's a target man and probably needs someone at the side of him... When we got to places like Old Trafford and Anfield then play 3 behind 1 with with Ulloa holding the ball, but against the likes of Stoke, Hull, West Brom etc one of the three will have to be sacraficed surely, so that we can play two up front and Nugent/Vardy can play alongside Ulloa. Of course, there are different formations (more than 442, 4411 and 4231) but I can't see us playing 3 at the back. Unless two of the three form wing backs.
Robin JD Popley Posted 20 July 2014 Posted 20 July 2014 The irony of this is they are all in fact left footed, but yes, I'd agree that Anthony K will be the one who is used as a roaming player. Mahrez on the left, Albrighton on the right. I'm expecting a vast improvement on our set pieces next season, and if we do sign another experienced midfielder, there is yet potentially another outlet.

Tielemans63 Posted 20 July 2014 Posted 20 July 2014 I'm more worried by who will be lining up at left back.
benpicko Posted 20 July 2014 Posted 20 July 2014 I'm more worried by who will be lining up at left back. Yep. Desperately need a quality left back. Schlupp was a liability at times last season in the Championship, and though he's young and I do think he'll improve dramatically, especially as NP's clearly got faith in him, we do need somebody else this season. Left back's looking like our major weakness no matter who we shove there currently. We've gone from classic comments like: Id rather play a 1 armed chimp called daisy than konchesky! and everybody criticising Schlupp ('he's decent going forward but terrifying to watch defensively' etc.) to these two being our only left back options and everybody being fine with it for whatever reason.
LeicesterAreGoingUp Posted 20 July 2014 Posted 20 July 2014 I think on away games, such as chelsea, Vardy will drift out wide left and then Ulloa (if he signs) will play up top.
