Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 2 September 2014 Share Posted 2 September 2014 To be fair to Kingy, he'd be a good player to bring on for Hammond/Cambiasso if we're 1 down with 20 to play, he's much more of an attacking force. I'm not so sure he is to an extent it is worth excluding Hammond. Kingy has tweaked his game in the last 18 months or so in the sense that he has lost a bit of his goalscoring attacking play, but has developed into a much better all round midfielder. If we are 1-0 down it's unlikely we will bring on a centre midfielder anyway, likelihood is we will chuck on strikers and wingers.
NewquayFox Posted 2 September 2014 Share Posted 2 September 2014 Time will tell with Knocky 'Babylon' he is so annoying to watch, so much skill but unlike Mahrez he wastes the ball so much, just my humble opinion thats all.....

Very true, but if we were to bring on a CM, Kingy should be first choice IMO.
Mad Dog Posted 2 September 2014 Share Posted 2 September 2014 I don't think Nugent will be dropped. Much more likely Vardy will take Schlupzillas place on the flank and we'll work more of a 433 when in possession.

cc_star Posted 2 September 2014 Share Posted 2 September 2014 This is the only way I can really see Cambiasso starting, if he's behind Drinkwater and James/King and Hammond. If it's true that his pace has completely gone, and if we're trying to plan for the future, why would we start him over Matty James? Only problem with that then is that we've removed Nugent/Powell's job because we can't have them both. That being said, Pearson said he's in here as a player and not to sit on the bench so assuming he'll be playing a lot and we don't change formation, looks like he'll be taking somebody's place We've played two deep mids not just one sitting back With Nuge dropping so deep he's basically made an attacking mid & along with Schlupp & Mahrez it makes a kind of 4231 although it's probably fairer to say 4411 with 2 deep banks of 4, Ulloa up top and Nugent doing all the work in between, critical when teams play with deep mids like Gerrard/Flamini etc as those players pull the strings of a team's attacking talent. Our success rests on many things (two deep banks of 4, balls outs to Ulloa, balls out to pacey Mahrez/Schlupp) but key among them is Nugent's role in preventing that happening
