Stockport (A) | Sat 12-Sep | 15:00 KO - Pre Match

If it’s 3 at the back, it needs to be: McCarthy O’Hora Souttar Kanga Joseph Lundstram Page McFarlane Howell Alves Riis Harsh on Braybrooke, but I’d sooner leave him out than Page, and think Howell and Alves could do more damage deployed as 10s or inside wingers than Page would if he was there. -
Thanks guys. Hoping it’s just a case of an extra day or two for them to arrive down here.
-
Anyone still waiting on the tickets for this?
-
Yeah, I think there needs to be a degree of ramping him up. He looked shot after about 65 mins the other night. Shouldn’t be pushing him too much too soon. I do get the argument for repeatedly starting him, but I fear I know how that ends currently.
-
Him and Watson will rotate a lot this season I expect. I think we’ll see Watson start tomorrow, with Will to come on and cause carnage like he did at MK (should have been given longer to do so). Need to be sensible with him.
-
Souttar, Kanga, the lad from Hibs and Thomas/Aluko to step in if required actually sounds alright. Just hope Okoli and Faes leave.
-
I like him.
-
Played relatively well and will benefit from having actual CBs on the pitch who can pass the ball when they have been signed. Aluko has shown his ability to play there to a good standard tonight though. Howell looks a player, Page was excellent last 5 mins aside. Braybrooke tidy. I was very wrong to defend the Cullen signing. He’s shite.

I went to the Cheltenham game. Otchere had a really poor game and the fans cheered when he was finally taken off. Felt for him - looked gutted at full time. Evans was a real threat and arguably the best player on the pitch. He was taking up lots of good positions but his teammates weren’t getting the ball to him. Really tenacious in his pressing and put a shift in defensively.
-
Potentially unpopular opinion but I like the fact we’re getting money in for the likes of Opoku, Cartwright and Wilson-Brown. Don’t think any of those were going to make it here, so even £500,000 combined (will likely be more) is good business.
-
Only Reid can be overly criticised from that with what we have in my opinion. Would’ve liked to see the new lad at LB but can understand he's had a knock. No Faes or Mavididi is great. No Page less so. Feel like the squad is still going to change a lot before the end of the window.
-
Rather he goes there and plays every week than stays here for an odd cup start and 20 mins off the bench in the league.

Fran Vieites leaves - mutual agreement to terminate contract

We’ll always have the first 60 mins of the Bristol Rovers friendly. Go well, legend. -
Another excellent signing for the level. Hopefully at most a 2 year contact and nominal fee.
-
Cheltenham are a great club, with a really supportive fan base. Went to Uni there so go to watch them semi often with mates there, looking forward to seeing his progress. Think it’ll be great for him.

Summer 26 Transfer rumours 'X' and other Weak Links
Devonfox1884 replied to davieG's topic in Transfer Talk
Posted in his thread in the main forum, but looks like Otchere is going to Cheltenham on loan: -
Sounds like he’s going on loan to Cheltenham. Jon Palmer very in the know at Cheltenham.
-
Believe me mate I fully get what you’re saying, I don’t trust them at all either. All I’m trying to get at is that I think the reaction to this potential signing is a a bit disproportionate and stems from the concerns you’ve outlined there among other things rather than looking at the signing in isolation.
-
Mate, there’s a lot of context needed. Firstly, do we know if he’s been signed as a striker? Do we know our exact budget? Are we getting another striker in? Do we know the plan for Chaplin? Do we know what other outgoings are lined up? The truth is we don’t know yet. I’m not saying it’s a good signing, I’m also not saying it’s a bad one. It might work out, it might not. We’re signing a 27 year-old player who is likely to be on modest wages from the league above, not a 30-something journeyman on £60k a week.
-
I’m getting so bored of the negativity towards absolutely everything. This in isolation is not a signing to be mad at for the position we find ourselves in. Be angry/frustrated that we are here, absolutely. I know I am. But this signing is certainly not comparable with Ayew/Reid etc and I don’t think one we should be losing our heads over. Let’s get behind him if he comes.

This might be mental, but you know what, I think I’ll give him a chance. We’re in league 1. We’re signing what sounds like a solid pro from the league above who will add depth to our young squad. Might be good, might be poor. Let’s get behind him and see shall we.

Only Aluko, Chaplin are likely starters at Notts from that XI. Possibly McCarthy and Choudhury too. Carr looks tidy. Aside from him and Aluko the other youngsters look a little off the pace.
-
Not that it would have helped for this game other than for a small chance in the ballot, but pretty shoddy that memberships haven’t been finalised before the first game goes on sale.
-
Good start. But that’s all it is for now. Needs to continue being ruthless with outgoings and hopefully we start looking at younger players with potential as well as some fresh experienced faces.
-
Tried when he was on the pitch but ultimately not at the level. Will probably be a good pick up for most league 2 clubs. Good luck Silko.
