stripeyfox Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 I ditched Tesco (1/4 mile from my house) in favour of Aldi (14 miles away) and it's still cheaper. Most of the Aldi stuff is fine. Tesco deserve every ounce of bad fortune now being heaped on them after their greed and downright criminally deceitful "special offers". The thing I like most about Aldi is the prices are generally consistent - loaf of Hovis bread 75p. In Tesco it's £1 one week, £1.30 the next or 2 for £2. Or a bottle of wine in Tesco is half price at £6 when it's never really been £ 12 ever! I complained to the manager of Tesco about a product I used to buy every week - Tesco own brand baby wipes - 99p. One week I went in and suddenly they were on "Special Offer - Buy One Get One Free", but priced at £1.99! It must be a breach of trading standards, surely?
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 I vary where I shop. If I don't go to Sainsbury's for a while, they send me things like £8 off £40 spend vouchers or money off petrol. I use them then give them a wide berth for a bit and, bingo, the vouchers come again tempting me back to shop there. My mum complains she never gets generous vouchers from Sainsbury and she shops there every week - I had to explain that loyalty means feck all to Sainsburys. Tesco, on the other hand, send me money off vouchers for things I actually buy and the loyalty points are more generous than Sainsburys. As for Co-op, much more expensive on most things, I generally give them a swerve unless I'm desperate!
Vlad the Fox Posted 29 October 2014 Posted 29 October 2014 Kwik Save had mystery food tins and 9p easter eggs, and that blue pop. I miss Kwik Save Quick Save where finished the day they stopped selling Snack Rolla's, balls of dough filled with chilli or other such delights, nuked in the microwave on full power for three minutes and hey presto the ultimate late night snack after a night on the tiles.

Sounds amazing, never had the pleasure of trying them. To be honest I was only a little kid the last time I was there so never did my own shopping but I did like how it felt like a warehouse and had loads of stuff that you didn't get elsewhere. Mostly shit, but different
