Rincewind Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 They trying to and many would like it going by the media. They move people away from areas where they can be seen so as to make figures look better. If there are no homeless visible they won't be counted so there is no increase in the numbers. Similar to Housing options. If people are told they do not qualify for emergency housing then there is no need for a hostel so they can be closed and cut from the budget whereas in many case people are eligible. http://downnotoutleicester.wordpress.com/2014/09/03/mass-eviction-of-london-homeless-as-police-swoop-in-anti-begging-operation/. Perhaps they should arrest members of the Red Cross amnesty international
Guest MattP Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 Why don't they just go a food bank? I presume they aren't going to turn a homeless guy away. You can beg enough for a tin opener surely?
Jon the Hat Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 That is pretty pathetic. While you could argue that feeding the homeless is not really osrting out the issue in any way, it has to be better than not feeding the homeless.
David Guiza Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 Read this the other day, not in the Daily Mail though thankfully. I get the reasoning to an extent, but still appauled that this going on in supposedly the greatest country in the world, a 90year old man feeding homeless people is not worthy of arrest and I really doubt anybody could convince me it is. Had a similar issue on holiday last summer. I know a lot of posters on here have little to no compassion towards most animals haha, but me and my girlfriend were staying in rural Spain before heading to Benicassim, and encountered a stray mother dog with 3 starving puppies. Did a bit of research because we had a feeling it would be illegal, or at least frowned upon, to feed them; and it was. As animal, particularly dog, lovers we couldn't let them go without food and getting kicked around by the locals so we snook out during the night to feed them. I know we're far from perfect in the United Kingdom, but seeing things like that accross the States and Europe makes me thankful I live in a country that I consider fairly morally correct on most things.
Rincewind Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 We were talking about this yesterday at our meet up.Did not realise it was the Mail. Looks like the meals they serve are hot which would be a lot more beneficial than the what the Government had to offer which I imagine would be the bare minimum. I donot see what harm it does and how caring for a fellow human being is wrong and a crime.
Soar Fox Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 I bought a homless guy a cheeseburger from McDonald's last week. When I gave it him he moaned that it had gherkins on. Same bloke always see him sat beside the cash machine on Horsefair Street.

Same bloke always see him sat beside the cash machine on Horsefair Street. I've done 'soup runs', providing soup and sandwiches at night to the homeless, in Leicester. And you'll always get some difficult bugger who didn't want a cheese and ham sandwich, or didn't like tomato soup. I guess he probably ate a lot of quavers.
Soar Fox Posted 7 November 2014 Posted 7 November 2014 so that was you mate. do us a favour hold gherkins next time or don't bother me ok? fookin do gooder. Stop asking me for change then when it's clear I was only getting £20 notes out of the cash machine.
Rincewind Posted 15 November 2014 Posted 15 November 2014 More have been arrested. One young 17 year old bloke when arrested said “I was laughing. I thought you know this is a sick joke,” “They can’t stop us from feeding people.” - See more at: http://livefreelivenatural.com/more-people-arrested-for-feeding-the-homeless-in-florida/ Just going to post RB video. Like him or hate him he makes a good poin. The 90 year old was told 'Drop that plate' What would they do shoot him?
