Fox Ulike Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 How is he stubborn? He's pissed around with the formation throughout this 10 game run trying to find one that works. He's dropped and chopped and change every outfield position trying to find an improvement. If anything the complaint is too much tinkering, not too stubborn. He neutered our attacking threat showing respect the opposition against Burnley, against Newcastle, against Swansea, and we looked woeful. He shows this arrogance and insults the oppostion that you're moaning about, and we were a couple of silly defensive lapses and a bit of poor finishing away from coming out of that week with 9 points out of 9. We looked much improved but seriously lacking in confidence It's not really an argument to say that we could have won the last three games if we'd taken our chances and cut out defensive mistakes. We could win all 38 games on that basis! Try again.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 The Leicester net, the gift that just keeps on giving. Merry Xmas Man City  :xmaslaugh: :xmaslaugh:
Bayfox Posted 11 December 2014 Posted 11 December 2014 I expected us to have a go. which we seemed to for about 4 games. since then I have been shocked how bad we have looked. not just results wise but performance as well. even in defeat to chelsea things still looked positive but I can find very little positives from swansea, villa etc in recent weeks.
Dan Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 Think we all did mate, thats the tough thing to take. The one thing Burnley have done though is developed a way of playing that is rugged, difficult to beat, organised, and everyone knows exactly what theyre doing. Add to that players like Ings who can nick you a goal at times, they pinch a few wins and keep themselves in touch. You do have to give credit to Dyche. He knows exactly how to get the maximum out of what hes got. But that's what I can't understand. Did we not do very similar last season? Why have we scrapped what we were about? It's a properly weird situation at Leicester. I think Cambiasso & Ulloa are two of our best players yet both have actually weakened us as a team, if you get me? I don't think either particularly fit to the way we played last year. I accepted from the off we'd be a struggler, but being below Burnley & QPR is a sign of regression to me. I don't think either of those two have improved massively. Both of them have, but not significantly.
Dan Posted 12 December 2014 Posted 12 December 2014 In defence of NP, I would imagine his plan was to start with a CB pair of Upson and Wes which would have been a more solid base than what we've been playing with. The goals conceded at Palace, Newcastle and Swansea were through naivity and if Upson were in the back 4, may not have happened. This is also true. Do people think he signed an aging Upson to sit on the bench? He won Brighton's player of the season last year ahead of someone we broke our club record for. Like Hamer, I'm not claiming he's the saviour, but I bet we'd be a lot better with a fit Upson.

We could win all 38 games on that basis! Try again. Being flippant and ignoring the point then. It's clear to all that the past 3 games have been an improvement on the previous 7 - when Pearson has decided to "insult" the opposition, rather than showing them respect. And it works - look at the Manure game. We pulled their pants down, stole their belt and ran away calling their dad a beetroot faced twat, while West Brom we respected and set up to counter their threats - I think it's quite clear which performance was better by us.

You give no balance to your arguments. Consistently, I'm reading so many arguments for Pearson, dismissing the negatives and fishing for positives. I think this is why people get bored of the Pro Pearson brigade personally. The reality is that in the last three games, we have lost all three and conceded 8 goals into the bargain. If you believe this to be any sort of 'improvement' on anything, it again shows what lengths people will go to support the man. I'm not saying don't support him, but for God's sake look at the bigger picture.

The recent games haven't been great but they've been better than that spell - it was quite clear I was saying that

The bigger picture is that we're not even halfway through the first season back in the Premier League, with four points off 17th spot. When there is talk of "improvement", it's meant in a relative way. Yes, the results haven't been great, but personally, I think we're in the middle of a very steep learning curve and should see results go our way again soon.
