Babylon Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Yes and no. Was he right to commit to the stadium? 100% yes. Was he right to invest in the squad? 100% yes. Was he right to hire and trust Peter Taylor with that investment? God no. A year before that appointment, O'Neill requested we sign Hartson for £5m but the board said no, instead only sanctioning the £2m for Gunnlauggson (or however you spell it). That was the time to back the manager. Its all about timing. I believe that time has come again. So we just need to make sure we get the most perfect manager that keeps us up forever and ever and never makes a mistake... because if they do we'll be fooked, for the second time.
lcfcbobby Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 cant have another peter taylor in charge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Football is always if, buts and maybe. The choice as I laid out earlier, is the choice. Yours would be prudence, mine would be investment. I understand what you say and why you say it, I just dont agree that we cant make something more of ourselves given the situation we're in.

It does sound a bit strange that despite wanting the current manager dismissed you also want throw give him umpteen millons to throw at players in the transfer window.

Of course we can make more of ourselves, but the consequences of failing are too great if the amount invested is potentially financially crippling. Anyway, we're going around in circles.

UncleGus Posted 16 December 2014 Posted 16 December 2014 Break the bank? ridiculous, ffp penalties, administration why would anyone even think that as an option.. madness But lets get it right we are premier leauge, our squad is not. What if Konchesky gets injured while Jeffrey is off iin the nations cup whos playing left back? RDL?!? What if his mum gives him another sick note then what?! Our owners haven't let us down yet. You know they will stick their hands in their pockets they are not in it for the cash, they wants the glory. So Jon Rudkin its over to you spend spend spend don't let us down we need help!
tickler28 Posted 17 December 2014 Posted 17 December 2014 What an awfully depressing list that is. Ravel Morrison really? I'd rather be relegated than that cvnt play for us. You'll probably get your wish tbf
Dan Posted 17 December 2014 Posted 17 December 2014 You can see why other sports fans often call us lot thick. How many other fans of teams in any other sport would openly risk the future of a 100 year plus institution just to try and stay in the top division for a few more years. Look at the debts some clubs have from taking this course of action, has splurging in January ever actually worked for anyone? Just sums up what a mess the Premier League is for me. The delusions people have about the league is unreal.
