Guest Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Yep, we were snookered in midfield!!.. Shame the Maloney deal didn't happen, but that had smacks of the Mcarthur summer transfer all over again!!! Except it's absolutely nothing like the circumstances surrounding the McArthur deal but yeah otherwise quite similar.
MC Prussian Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Im very much a Pearson fan and definitely do NOT want him sacked. But sometimes you need to take your blue tinted specs off. In what regard? I've been critical of Pearson and the team in the past even after wins, but sometimes you need to be realistic in your assessment and take all elements into consideration in a fair way. Seeing the facts on the table, we did an admirable job versus Stoke at home, but ultimately failed due to lack of proper personnel on the pitch and one or two odd substitutions (from the outside). I usually don't feel too well after a defeat either, but that doesn't mean I have the urge to go on a Foxestalk rampage afterwards like some of our specialists on here.
MC Prussian Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 We've hardly won any games!! We've already won a couple - so it's worthy of posting during the good times, as well. But Mr. Miserable only shows up during particularly bad times. No surprise there.

The thing about Yesterday was it was the first time this season I've actually thought Nigel Pearson, what on earth are you thinking. I'm not a massive fan of Ulloa as a footballer but he's a threat in the air, brings others in to pay, and has got himself on the scoresheet more than our other striking options combined, to drop him for Jamie Vardy is senseless. Marc Albrighton being an unsued sub is sickening given his last two performances. And we did not make a good go of yesterday whether is be looking at the game or the stats, either pointed to a deserved Stoke win.
Babylon Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 The thing about Yesterday was it was the first time this season I've actually thought Nigel Pearson, what on earth are you thinking. You see I didn't, I got what he was trying to do. The inclusion of Schlupp and Vardy was to me a clear sign that we'd identified pace as being something Stoke are weak against and that's the angle we were trying for. It didn't work, that much is obvious now but the intent for me was clear. To me it feels like people are focusing on the wrong critisisms of Pearson. Lawrence coming on has obviously been brought up, but what frustrated me was there was no attempt to change the style of play or formation. Difficult to do so granted with the options we had in CM, but it was as clear as day to me that we needed to get a grip in the centre some how. To just carry on as we were and just swap players in like for like positions seemed doomed to fail. We'd have made a better fist of it putting Wes upfront for 5 minutes than the last 20 seconds.
artursteppe Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 Newcastle away when they were in the relegation zone, Palace, QPR,and Villa away.....................and Hull / - at home Burnley, Sunderland, Everton, Stoke,WBA.......................and Villa. Bottom ten opposition teams. Home...............Played 6...................Points 6 Away................Played 5...................Points 3 Reasons to be cheerful? It can only be the loyal supporters of Nigel can really answer that one. However, let's all remember how well he has done for us in the lower leagues, except for matches against Yeovil, Millwall, Barnsley and many others like that.

Yes but this chip the ball over the top to Pacey Vardy just doesn't work, as he doesn't have the touch or the finishing ability to make it count at this level. Pace is not everything, some of the comments early season such as "can't wait to see Vardys pace rip John Terry apart" were just out and out hilarious, the blokes marked Lionel Messi pretty well in the past as if he was ever going to have a seriously problem marking Vardy. If you can read the game well you can nullify pace, and most centre halves at his level can read the game very well. You need more in your locker than to just simply be quick. Anyway, If you want to go for that angel throw your pacey record signing on and see what he can do from the start. I hate to use the phrase "he couldn't of done any worse" but lets face it Vardy has numerous attempts to make an impact this season and has looked toothless on nearly every occasion, I am aware Pearson doesn't like to throw his new boys in straight away but if that's his game plan that's what he should of gone for, for me. Perhaps your right with the formation but I don't see what we could of played, we look utter dog shit playing 4-5-1, and I've not seen us play 4-3-3 for a long time. And as you say, our central options are somewhat limited at the moment. As for the inclusion of Schlupp it's not what I'd of gone for but I can understand it, it's more the fact that he's decided to go for Knoackaert and Schlupp and then bring Tom Lawrence on instead that really has me scratching my head. Albrightons had a great couple of games and we should be trying to keep him involved. That said Pearson clearly doesn't rate him so I'm fighting a losing battle with that one I feel.
Itsthejoeker Posted 19 January 2015 Posted 19 January 2015 People seem to forget we're only three points from 17th/16th and 5 from 14th. That doesn't look like the end of the world to me, we've seen crazier things happen in football than that. 12th in form over the last 6 games too.

Yes at the moment, but It's the fixture list that has me concerned. Arsenal Everton Yanited Man City and Chelsea five out of next six games, If we lose at home to Palace I'll be pretty resigned to the fact we are pretty much down. We'll be so far behind by the time Hull come to town that we'll be out the picture.

Look at the Liverpool game, that stands testament to the fact there's still fight left in the dog.
