How much is the Champions League worth?

Recommended Posts

I saw a post recently from 'captain' saying that we could earn £50m just from the first round of 6 games and yet the BBC are claiming that Man U will lose between £30-£50m by not qualifying this year.

This is what teams got in 14/15 and it's gone up since then. Participation bonus is now 12m each. 1.5m for a win and 500k for a draw, plus market pool amount have gone up.

Liverpool got 33m euros without even going through on the old deal. I'd say 40m euros is fairly realistic on the new deal.

Man U will have loads of sponsorships and commercial deals so losses will be different that just prize/tv money.

Money, money, money. Sod that. I tell you what the champions league is worth to me, a minimum of 6 games (hopefully many more) against the cream of Europe. Great memories, hopefully. Something I have dreamed about for many years. That dream was effectively taken away when Sky took over the  reins in 1992 & for the duration of the premier league I had given up on my dreams. UNTIL THIS SEASON. Now after an unbelievable set of events, starting with the last quarter of 2014-2015 season, the appointment of the Don & subsequent tactics by the great man, the arrival of Kante & the camaraderie & confidence of the whole squad my dreams have not just been awoken but realised, something I would have scoffed at not long ago. What I & every other City fan are looking forward to next season, money cant buy. Just to add, Man Utd have promised a £200 million war chest for Mourinho. Money can buy you great players, what it cannot buy is TEAM ETHICS & we have that by the bucket load.

Now, wheres me passport!
