THE MKDons Debate

Recommended Posts

So then are the Dons any closer to appointing someone yet RedOnRed?

No announcement as yet.

I think they're supposed to reveal all over the next seven days. The chairman has said all along that he wanted to have it wrapped up by mid June.

There's supposed to be about six main names in it but either Adams or Knewell are rumoured to be the big name favourites.

It's a bit sad, but it's actually more exciting then watching them play...

MK Dons and Leicester City FC are 'not poles apart'....?

Are you alright in the head? You are a franchised mess while we are currently in limbo, but have never fallen to the feeble depths of yourselves and never could, unless of course we moved to another part of the country, say, Cornwall, to play football in front of fans who never turned up to see us in our own town.

You're not a club. You are a disgrace. It sets awful presendents what happened there and I was disgusted we ever played you in a pre-season friendly. For the record, I used to live close to and watch Wimbledon FC and was absolutely gutted about what happened to that 'club'. You are not a club.

Thanks. Te rah me duck. Poles apart? We're not even in the same universe pal.

We're not poles apart in terms of we've both got similar stadiums, we're both under achieving in our respective leagues and that we're only two leagues apart. Now we're definitely poles apart from the likes of Chelsea, Man UTD, Liverpool & Arsenal but then so are you and most other clubs even in the Premiership. At the moment we'd very much like to join Leicester in the Championship but I wouldn't say we aspire to be you.

Additionally some people seem quick to forget that Wimbledon arrived at Milton Keynes homeless and under administration and that the MK Dons often get bigger crowds in the bottom division then Wimbledon typically got in the Premiership...so much for loyal Wimbledon support then?

If you're looking to blame someone for Wimbledon's demise then why not blame Sam Hamann for selling them to Norwegians and then the Norwegians for pulling the plug on them? Why blame Milton Keynes for throwing them a lifeline?

MK Dons have evolved from Wimbledon and will always have historical ties, but they have also risen from Wimbledon's ashes and have forged their own identity.

We can all be as romantic and loyal as we like about Wimbledon but if it hadn't been for the support in MK and a passionate MK Dons chairman - Wimbledon and their footballing bloodline would have ceased all together.

I'm sick of hearing about the franchise rubbish that people spout off about. Would you have prefered it if Wimbledon had deceased all together rather then having been resurrected else where and then denying people supporting them.

It's sport, some of us like to enjoy it without any bad blood and hatred to one another. Change the record and move on.

Similar grounds? Are you on LSD??

Do you have any idea how many 'fans' would go and watch Halifax Town play at home if they moved to Newquay?

We are and never will be anything like each other.

Your stadium holds 22,000, ours 32,500, yes very similiar

I can only judge from pictures, but I find their ground a beauty. They have a Nike deal, better than Jako ehh? 0,,10420~3183224,00.jpg

Its a new team which deserves respect, even with the Allen link. So alex shut up. Let them live their own realities, but make fun only of idiots like Leeds.

You're right, the ground will hold only 22,000 on it's initial opening but that is the lower tier only. The upper tier isn't having its seats installed until some time in future by which time the capacity should rise to approximately 30,000.

Sorry, i'm missing your analogy there? What have we got to do with Halifax or Newquay? And when did I ever say that we're anything like each other? I said we're not poles apart - there's a big difference.

The complex will combine a 30,000 seat stadium - the permanent home of the MK Dons - with a 5,000 seat indoor arena, where the MK Lions basketball team will be based and concerts will be held. There will also be a 1,000 seat conference centre, plus a hotel, restaurants and retail superstores for ASDA and IKEA. The superstores could be open as soon as Christmas of 2005, whilst the stadium, designed to UEFA's Four Star specification, and the Arena for the Lions is due to open in time for the 2006/07 league campaigns.

You insinuated, by the 'we're not poles apart' comment that we're not too dissimilar, which is ridiculous. If Halifax played their home matches in Cornwall they would get significantly higher gates then they do now......

Bottom line is and will always be that your 'club' will need a generation before they are not seen as a total joke by any half-decent football fan.

I think you've misconstrued me there. I said we're not poles apart meaning...

...Yes - we have similar grounds. Yes - we're both under achieving in our respective divisions. Yes - we both will have new managers with big challenges and high expectations to meet. Yes - both clubs need to deliver sooner rather then later.

Are you a half decent football fan then? If so why do you perceive the Dons as being a joke? Would you have prefered the club that was homeless and shat on by Norwegians to be dead and buried? Or would you prefer them to be harmlessly making a living playing sport and being followed by hard working fans?

Last year QPR pulled out from a preseason friendly with us due to their chairman getting death threats and this year Watford seem to be working themselves into a pathetic rabid frenzy over us. The whole thing's laughable.

This really interests me. Your irrational contempt for us needs psycho analyzing. What's your real problem?

Posted

While I fully accept some analysis would be useful - I'm not sure 'psycho' is quite on the money.

We will have to agree to not agree at all and move on I guess. In fairness it's only to your gain to have a club in the league on your doorstep without having to do a thing about it. Not your fault at all.

You're dead right, it's not my fault at all and while they're here those of us that follow them are going through a similar range of emotions and expense to any other supporter.

They've been here quite a few years now and even after justifiable reasons for them moving to maintain their survival it's still amazing to still see and hear people crawling from under rocks to despise them at every opportunity. Most of those people are blindly following a band wagon anyway and don't have the intellect to understand and appreciate why or how they had to move.

Feeble.

Out from under rocks? You twat. I marched to parliament for the cause (in my LCFC top) to prevent this type of action - face facts your 'club' will be disliked by a majority for some time; and the fact of corporate justification is total nonsense. I wonder what you would have felt if they had moved to Ireland as had been proposed? Which club would follow in that instance? Intellect? Where would you like to begin on that one then?

Now, why not jog on and join in with your own non-identity friends and talk about how unfair it all is.......?

For all your bitterness and verbal abuse you still haven't had the wits about you to answer one of the questions i've asked you.

Presumably, for the good of the game, you would have prefered it if a homeless club in administration with little support would have gone under all together would you? That club has now relocated and is surviving all while giving employment and enjoyment to all that are actively involved with it. Would you prefer to deny that happening for the sake of maintaining your own irrational hatred?

If you were briefly to relent from abusing everyone in sight about it you'd be able to appreciate all the good that's come out of it like local youth academys and community projects that take place. My son was involved in an MK Dons soccer tournament and loved every minute of it. There are also countless other people that are benefiting from the team. Seemingly none of which would make an ounce of difference to your attitude though.

Interesting little discussion. I have to say I fully agree with the majority of what RedOnRed is saying.

It's a bit of a Neanderthal argument being put forward by alex. I would suggest redirecting all that misplaced aggression into supporting Leicester City instead of getting melodramatically over excited and angry about MK Dons.

They've moved to save themselves. Survival pure and simple. Jobs have been generated, the local area has benefited and soon a new generation of football supporters will choose MK Dons as their local club and all this petty rambling will be a thing of the past.

Nicely put.

Surely no one in their right minds and with clear judgement could be dismissive of the valid reasons for the Dons relocating.

At the end of the day we're not desparate to win hearts and minds and new support, we just don't want to be hated for giving a lifeline and home to a team that was all but dead.

Hang on a minute - you were the one hurling insults first and personal. I have said absolutely nothing personal to you, only about Franchise FC.

I have two sons, both involved in football schools near to me in London, they love that too, they also love cleaning my car.....Your point there is lost on me.

It has benefitted you and your kin, for sure. There are a lot of people who lost out. Fact. I live amongst those. Meanwhile FC Wimbledon climb the ladder.....

The 'jog on' and talk to your own mates was serious, not abusive. Your 'psycho' insult I presume the same yes? Silly. If you think that's abuse then I would love to see your reaction to those living outside of MK.

To answer your question, the borough of Merton gave up on waiting for answers on how Wimbledon FC were proposing to run the dog stadium and ground. This happened as the owners of Wimbledon FC realised they would be losing money at the off-set if they did this and as they didn't care for the club they decided to retreat and sell to MK. It was and is an awful decision, with only those in MK winning anything, meanwhile a community had lost their club. I think most of that community would have been far happier the club die than be relocated and the presendent that starts could still be dangerous.

It's about tradition. You have now inherited a football club. What next? Fancy buying the Dome?

Thanks for being so patronising.

It all depends where you live and I am not being melodramatic at all really, this has been nothing to do with LCFC since the ROR chap tried to make a point we were alike.

We're all welcome to our views. Because of where I moved to after Leicester, I have been surrounded by the football community that was Wimbledon FC and their plight was heart breaking for them.

I don't want to get embroiled with your tit for tat squabbling, but as we're on the subject your very first post was venomous, impolite and basically insulting...

And every post you've done since has had more to do with hurling insults then making constructive criticism and understanding the real reasons why the club had to move to avoid closure.
