THE MKDons Debate

Look on the bright side. It could be alot lot worse  It could be called the walkers stadium.

PMSL mate :D

At least they do make the best crisps in the world.

There does seem to be a hell of a lot of Stadiums that are named after the teams key financial backers nowadays. When you look at the crappy old grounds we used to have to use it's a price that's got to be worth paying.

At least the Dons stadium isn't backed by Poundstretcher or Durex.

I find it amazing you didn't follow a team until one fell out of the sky and on to your lap.

Well i've always been fairly local to Milton Keynes and rather then support a team miles away like lots of my mates have like Liverpool, Man UTD etc, just because they're the best, i've ended up not supporting anyone because quite simply there wasn't anyone. I think there's a lot to be said for getting behind your local club - no matter what their origins are.

I wonder if Arsenal went through the same flack when they relocated from Woolwich in 1913?

This may seem mildly off topic but.... how come Mk Dons have got Watford and West Ham in pre-season home friendlys? i guess it must be to do with the new stadium but stil... quorn away?

I think those fixtures were setup by Allen prior to him leaving (of course).

I can only think that he had contacts with both teams. Well he did used to play for the Hammers and the coach Hockaday was from Watford.

Anyway, just what we need...two good thrashings just before we start the new season. ;)

I didn't really support any team before the MK Dons. I just liked to see a good game of football. The Milton Keynes area has always been a bit of a wasteland for clubs.

You're absolutely right about the heritage part. No contest there, unless the Wimbledon history is controversially taken into consideration.

Here we go again, as posted before, it's initially going to have a capacity of 22,000 which is just for the lower tier. The upper tier isn't having its seats installed until some time in the future and when it does capacity should rise to around 30,000.

Yes and we have plans to to extend ours to 45,000 at some point in the future.

So if you want to play that game ours is 15,000 bigger.

I find it amazing that you're still babbling on about this.

What IS your problem? I know a lot of people who don't support a team for all sorts of reasons but still love football and understand the game.

You have a personal vendetta that is both futile in its nature and irrelevant.

The team has moved. RedOnRed is an MK Dons supporter. And he has on more than one occassion rendered your arguments weak and banal.

Get over it.

I don't know any. :dunno:

By "a lot" I meant "a few" but I definitely know more than none. :D

They may follow a team's results, progress, etc more closely than others, generally based on where they live at the time but wouldn't classify themselves as supporters.

Yea - but aside from ManU "fans"...none, right? :D

Man Utd fans the only ones to wake up first thing in the morning to check their share value! Or used to (aka rich heritage)

Yes, they did. Although hardly the same at all really. So, Luton Town too far? Northampton?

So he's right?

What is YOUR problem and why are you trying to get involved at all? I am merely having a debate if that's alright with you?

If it happened to LCFC you would be absolutely distraught, fact. For this reason and for what I saw when Wimbledon moved, I hate the entire practise. I have said (repeatedly) that it is not RedOnRed's fault and have indeed apologised.

What I love is people like YOU on forums who think they're somehow doing good. You're not. Now run along and allow us to have the debate without a flame fanner.

I have no problem with those two teams, it's just that you really have to come from either town to appreciate or support them.

Of course no-one's happy to see their team relocate and that goes without saying. It's just that there are mitigating circumstances to Wimbledon's relocation to Milton Keynes which you seem intent on either ignoring or are unwilling to comprehend.

The club was homeless since 1991, well before their relocation. Sam Hamann was responsible for that and for then selling them on to Norwegians who then pulled the financial plug on them. They arrived under administration with all their key players having to be sold.

Get one thing straight...Milton Keynes didn't force Wimbledon to relocate. There were no offers that no-one could refuse with horses heads found in peoples beds. There was simply a lifeline and a single option for survival. None of which was on the table at south London.

Milton Keynes adopted a team that was in its death throws and beyond the last rites and unable to survive without MK's help.

Consequently, the club is now getting off its knees and for the first time in years the future looks promising and if you have any appreciation for sport you should see it positively and not want to deny all the good that is coming from it to others.

Hands up everyone who thinks RoR has at least three Manure/Arsenal or Chelsea tops and only starting "supporting" this little team as a protest to The Glazers/Leaving Highbury or the Russian influence?

Ha ha, I could make a comment on that, but will not.....

I hope I haven't caused offence and wish you all the luck for the new season. Your ground looks extremely nice and I have to say I am gutted Wimbledon FC never had the support from Merton Council as you lot have received. I am sure you are sick of having to defend your club but at the same time, as an intelligent person, am also sure you can see why you may received stick.

Is that an

Took me a while to work out what that was...I was never very good at Catchphrase :S

As far as the MK Dons are concerned...as Neville Chamberlain once said "they'll be peace in our time".

I don't get your point. Our stadium is already extended. It just doesn't have the upper tier seats installed.

We're realists. We can manage without 10,000 unused seats until things pick up. TBH...probably 20,000 unused seats in reality.

By the way, all of the seats in our new stadium are executive style upholstered cushioned comfy seats. Similar to the ones installed at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. Literally quite a nice touch.

MK Dons are just 1 of 92 League teams, there going to be there so deal with it. No-one else is bothered.

Deal with what? People should be bothered about what?

Apart from yourself pointing out the obvious...what point are you trying to make?

Goodluck for next season. The stadium looks great, even if you won't be filling it week in week out.

Thanks for that. I sincerely wish you lot all the best in next seasons campaign too. But if you do end up in the play offs it might be worth backing the other side...lol.

In the meantime, it looks like Paul Ince is all but confirmed as our new manager.

Wouldn't you much prefer terracing? ::dunno::P;)
