Libertine Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 Looks good, but how the hell Elijah Wood is cast as a football hooligan is beyond me.
EmLeee Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 I've seen the advertisement - i will be going to see it at some point!
Matt Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 any one seen this advertiesd? looks class ment to be 10 times better than the football factory On Jo Whileys show James King says Football Factory is better.
john_lcfc Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 i want to see it aswell it should be good but like Libertine KC i cant see how the hobbit passes as a football hooligan
Matt Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 i want to see it aswell it should be good but like Libertine KC i cant see how the hobbit passes as a football hooligan According to James King's review they picked Elijah Wood because he comes over to England as a "cute" "lovable" character and then get involved in supporting West Ham, this then leads to hooliganism...
stulcfc Posted 8 September 2005 Author Posted 8 September 2005 looks well gud on that iam getting it tomoz
Cat Burger Posted 8 September 2005 Posted 8 September 2005 A review in "the week" in todays mercury headlines: "Playing up soccer violence for the sake of it"...It goes on to say "Everyone wants to play down football violence...except the film industry. The Football Factory was OK but this latest effort is crude and exploitative" It gets 1 star out of 5 in the review. Why do you want to see this film again lads?
Ric Flair Posted 9 September 2005 Posted 9 September 2005 It will not be a patch on Football Factory. It might be more violent, but to be honest that will just make the film get more criticism from the media. Football Factory wasn't that violent and looked more in to the lives of the people that do it and pretty much why. Any film with that little hobbit in as an english thug will be laughed at all over the land. I will watch it at some point, but I doubt it will be as effective as Football Factory. 'See me you ****, i'll cut you first'
Guest Posted 9 September 2005 Posted 9 September 2005 According to James King's review they picked Elijah Wood because he comes over to England as a "cute" "lovable" character and then get involved in supporting West Ham, this then leads to hooliganism... A very believable story line.....

Well your mate Josh is in it, so you should wanna see it too really.
Phil Posted 13 September 2005 Posted 13 September 2005 just downloaded it over night got all excited when it finished put it on, and of course I have downloaded the German version so I cant understand a sodding word guess I'll be off to the cinema to watch it.
Darth Fox Posted 13 September 2005 Posted 13 September 2005 To be honest I don't like films that portray hooliganism. It's the ugly side of football and this encourages it. I still remember witnessing a running battle after a Foxes vs Manure match back in the 90's, was terrifying and seemed to be running for an age to avoid it.

Yeh Man Utd are terrible, I remember running away from a riot along the road that leads from the Tigers ground past the old turnstile pub the time they beat us 3-0 when we were top.
Daggers Posted 20 June 2006 Posted 20 June 2006 I've just spent the morning watching this in bed [being the housewife of the house rocks! ] What a huge steaming pile of bolox. Plotline and dialogue are woeful, there is only one aspect to this film - the glorification of football violence. There are no deep messages being explored here, no subtext, just spurting blood and shite fight scenes. Wood has to be one of the most pathetic leads that could have been chosen for this film. <_< Above everything else that made me hate this film - the "Americans Introduction To Cockney" at the begining. Blowing bubbles? Blowing f~#ing chunks more like...

Blowing bubbles? Blowing f~#ing chunks more like... and don't forget at the begining when he gets beaten up by Birmingham fans the actual footage is from West Ham Vs Gillingham!! The thing that most disturbs me is that this is what the rest of Europe/The World thinks all English football is like and when they watch these sort of films they often can't see it for what it is and imo it destroys all the hard work put in to improve the image of the game in this country

FOUR! I really wonder WTF the media is on, I really do. Obviously, violence is deplorable ... but four people out of the thousands in Germany does not constitute football hooliganism. More people would have been arrested in Brum tonight for being pissed and arsey!
