Mark Posted 16 September 2005 Posted 16 September 2005 Apparently, If I were to dig a hole in my garden, all the way through the earths core, i'd end up just south of new zealand.. unfortunately in the sea. How do i know? I went here http://grad.icmc.usp.br/~cipriani/bighole.php?lang=en and found out. Anyone get anywhere near any land?

stez Posted 16 September 2005 Posted 16 September 2005 it looks like my whole is a in the middle of the ocean off of new zealand. what would happen to the sea water? how far up/down the hole would it go? would it gush up in grantham or only go half way?
Rincewind Posted 16 September 2005 Posted 16 September 2005 Cant see land, but I did get a glimpse of Helen McCarther. Trouble is if you dig to the sea the Pacific would rush through the hole and Leicester would be flooded.

CasinoGee Posted 16 September 2005 Posted 16 September 2005 I end up a few thousand miles south of South Africa.
rossporterlc Posted 16 September 2005 Posted 16 September 2005 you wouldn't survive passing through the core anyway, but oh well
cisono Posted 16 September 2005 Posted 16 September 2005 you wouldn't survive passing through the core anyway, but oh well someone's been studying geography as well
Wellman Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 I end up a few thousand miles south of South Africa. Ditto
rossporterlc Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 someone's been studying geography as well no, my geography skills are very poor, it's supposed to be an easy a level though, lots of colouring in to do
Hitesh Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 no, my geography skills are very poor, it's supposed to be an easy a level though, lots of colouring in to do yeah! thats what my mate said. And they went on some interesting field trips...to Amsterdam! <_<
cisono Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 no, my geography skills are very poor, it's supposed to be an easy a level though, lots of colouring in to do wow... sounds more like kindergarden! No wonder the pass rates are soaring each year
cisono Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 yeah! thats what my mate said. And they went on some interesting field trips...to Amsterdam! <_< Hmmm did they pass!?!?!?
The People's Hero Posted 17 September 2005 Posted 17 September 2005 My girlfriend did geography at uni. If you can breath, you'll pass easy. If you can colour in to any decent standard you'll be looking at first class honours.
cisono Posted 18 September 2005 Posted 18 September 2005 My girlfriend did geography at uni. If you can breath, you'll pass easy. If you can colour in to any decent standard you'll be looking at first class honours. Well, not too sure about that. There is GIS and some stats too... (unless she managed to avoid them)
Rugby Fox Posted 18 September 2005 Posted 18 September 2005 I would end up near Bouvet Island! In the South Atlantic ocean
