Iraqi footballer shot dead by fan

An Iraqi football player has been shot dead by a spectator as he was about to score an equalising goal.

The shooting happened in the last minute of a game between two local rivals on Sunday, police say.

The striker was shot in the head during the match in the city of Hilla, according to local security officials.

The game was being played between Sinjar and Buhayra. The suspected killer has been arrested as police carry out an investigation.

Does that matter?

No but it doesn't seem news worthy. It's in IRAQ it's hardly out of the ordinary.

Now if it happened in the Premiership it'd be very different......

Not laughing at the situation, I'm laughing at how DB11 is justifying it.

Now if it was a referee that had been shot.....

That would actually be very different because referees at all levels are required for the game to go ahead. Without them there would be no game and so they should be respected etc. :)

And if players were shot, there would loads of games wouldn't they?

What happend in your life for you to have the views you claim to have on FT?

Look, so long as the referee doesn't get shot, there's no point making a thread about it. Afterall, players getting shot in football matches in Iraq is not uncommon.

in DB World.

I hope all refs get shot. Not mortally - just in both knees. Enough that they can never referee a game again.

Then the robots will come in, and thats when the game will become fair again.

Danny, are you saying this to get a reaction, or do you genuinely believe what you are saying?

It's still bad that a player got shot but it's hardly surprising that it's happened in Iraq rather than the Premiership et al is what I'm saying.

Yes it is surprising though, I can't remember any other Iraqi footballers killed in action.

lol.

No matter who it is or where the shooting happened, it's still not on. there's no justifying it at all.

Not as surprising as if it were to happen in the Premiership?

It doesn't matter where in the world it happened? Even if it happened in the gaza strip I still would be surprised.
