Former players with a story to tell

Anyone know any? I fancy doing an interview for Vital Football.

Preferably someone a bit more low-key (we've already heard everything about Walsh or Worthington for example) or from an earlier period in the clubs history than we are used to hearing about.

Anyone at all you vaguely know or could suggest would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe Joachim? You could probably track him down at Quorn....

Unfortunately not the most erudite of people you're ever likely to meet.

Still love the bloke though. :)

Bobby Roberts is up Braggy Park most Sunday mornings for a long walk around 10 ish , (you'd still recognise him from his playing days) and I'm sure he would be able to furnish you with some good stories from one of our golden periods :)

he mentioned it in one of the live games... said he played for them in the 80's but had to quit because of injury.... never pressed him for his name though...

might be worth compiling a list of questions and emailing them to Peter Jones asking if he could forward them on to Taggart... he has always seemed a decent bloke... he came close to Hero Status for me....

No point in sending anything to Peter, he no longer works at City.

I agree, Bobby was a great right half, who like his predicessor Frank Mclintock, was a full blooded Scot, dominating in defence. If my memory serves me right, he cost us £40,000, from Motherwell.

In the early sixties we had what was generally considered the best half back line in the country. Frank Mclintock, Ian King, and Colin Appleton. The grand total cost of bringing them to the club was £30. Just a ten pound signing on fee for each player!

Speaking to Peter Shilton the other night I mentioned a teenager called Tony Mathers who helped him practice his angles in the gymnasium under the Filbert Street centre-stand.

It was 44 years ago. Tony later got hurt in a car accident and disappeared from the scene so I doubted anyone left at the club would recall his name now. Peter surprised me though. "Sure, I remember him," he said. "Ex-Blaby Boys Club".

Decent bloke, keeps himself to himself. Was at my uncles boozer saturday night for a charity night with Gary Mills and Paul Ramsey (who was absolutley shit faced) Joachim was happy to pose for photos and the like, didn't seem to impressed when he was made to sing on karaoke.

Saw Ramsey last saturday morning in Town Hall Square with his little boy. Looks like he keeps in shape anyone know if he's coaching anywhere?

Right said Fez...

:D

so whats the plan? are you going to do a one off interview?

what about having a set format of questions and a " where are they now" section of vital - or even here and try and get them out to every ex city player you know or hear of wether its 40 years ago or 4...

just an idea...
