Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Well, not another one after Nugent. And heck, why not. I think we're right NOT to pay the ridiculous prices that Brizzle and Reading are holding out for. Sure, if we could have got them for £2-3m who could complain, but what they want, I'd rather stick. Yeah we missed out on CMS, but is he really any different from when we signed Fryatt from Walsall? So we've got Nugent, Waghorn, Howard, Gallagher, Vassell, Schlupp - myself I'm not so sure that Nugent can't get 20+ with the right service, that Waghorn might recover his confidence (cos that's all it is), that Schlupp might be a revelation and that the others will weigh in with goals here and there. I just hope that should we fail to get any of our original targets, Sven doesn't feel that he's got to get somebody and so he goes and buys anybody (I'm looking at you Ishmael Miller <_< .) Maybe we'll be just fine without anyone else?

And now you have no faith in Sven or just a little.... But if we could get a striker in the same class as newcomber Fernandes what do you say about that? The future is blue and bright as I can see so Trev come on Leicester express for here we goooooo :scarf:

Babs has said that Sven knows who he's after...but who????? this one player, whoever it may be, could just be the icing on the cake... but I'm thinking that it aint gonna happen? hope I'm wrong

John Matrix Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 nugent can score goals but he wastes a lot of good opportunities don't see us getting long sharpe is now injured maynard is a mystery le fondre is unproven miller is almost certain for forest
Ric Flair Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 I think you've mistaken Sven massively. We will get another striker in, whether he's as good as we've been led to believe remains to be seen but there will be another striker coming in, if not a couple.

We are obviously actively looking for someone up top, personally I'm pretty confident we'll get someone who will bag 'em for us.

Maybe we'll be just fine without anyone else? I like your line of thought but there is a part of me that thinks it would just come back to kick us in the teeth. I think we need another centre forward. I'd worry that given two or three injuries we'd draw or lose games beacuse we would lack the cutting edge to finish moves that would normally result in goals.
Joe. Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 I think we are lacking something up top (Nugent aside), but I'd rather us be patient and wait to get the right man rather than leap in with some half-arsed rash decision. It wouldn't surprise me to see us stick with the current situation as it is for a few weeks. Premier League sides won't want to let players out on loan until they have their squads sewn up, so we could end up going down that route once again.
@mrtonycox Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Maybe he's hoping Howard will bag 20 for us..?? Maybe Vassell will stop flying up the wing for us, doing a couple of crap stepovers before getting the ball taken from him and actually score.?? I can't see Sven bagging someone now as a striker, season has started.. I think he'll wait a bit and see what the current lot do..

You see wee swedish people is funny
MrSpaM Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 This whole striker situation has had me a little puzzled since the start, we've practically the same forward line as last year, which scored more goals than any other team, less the Yak, but with the addition of Nugent. If we scored more goals than any other team in the championship during Svens raign last season, why does everybody think were not going to score at all this season? Yes i'd like a fresh new proven striker, but our team can and will score goals this season regardless.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 all this forward thinking . . . . . . . .but still no . . . . . . . .errrm forwards

But what we want is a striker who can strike over 20 goals but I don´t think Man U great striker Rooney gonna do 20 goals this season

I'm not sure we could do that. We do need another striker or two to cope with the demands of a 46-match league season, especially if (when?) Waggy and/or Howard are moved on.
@mrtonycox Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 I saw Michael Owen in Leicester Market this morning buying some foam and material.. Perhaps he's making a nice cushion for the bench here.?

cc_star Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 We need something up front We make as many chances as anyone but never finish teams off. excluding Swedish 8th division teams we scored 1 or 2 goals in pre-season and apart from Nugent's header off the inside of the post we hardly pulled up trees against Cov I think our defence & midfield is worthy of top 2, but upfront we've got 6 to 10th written all over us We do need someone special to take us to the next level. Long, Maynard, Chopra, Earnshaw & many others score goals for fun, the only consolation was WHU looked in the same boat, good at the back with Noble & Upson, great in the middle with Nolan & Parker but no end product
undey Posted 8 August 2011 Posted 8 August 2011 Well west brom will have the devastating feeling at the end of next season after they have spent 7 million on long and he has produced nothing.
