On top of this, complaining about anti social behaviour in modern Britain is seen as a reactionary position. My friends will bemoan litter in the streets, shoplifting, phone snatching, loutish behaviour etc, but they'll always start with "I don't want to sound like a Tory but...". A sorry state of affairs!

Increase in litter on the streets is probably the biggest aesthetic change to urban Britain I've seen in my life. I live in a supposedly nice part of London and there is an almost unbroken chain of cartons, cans, wrappers and takeaway boxes on the curb down the whole street. It's really got much worse in the last 3-4 years. It's much worse now than Sofia when I lived there, outside the gypsy ghettos, which is saying something.

Love the heat, especially travelling round London, very kino

The flag stuff shows how the English right wing have have been totally psychically colonised by Americans and their politics. Same with pretty much everything Kemi Badenoch says

In the countryside I quite enjoy the English winter. In our cities, which are depressing enough anyway, I hate the cold, rain and darkness.

A team with Huth, Mahrez and Kante is quite considerably better than one without

Does this make Susan Eleanor of Aquitaine? And Rudkin John de Gray?

I live a couple of stops from St Pancras so for anywhere west of the Rhine it's probably as quick for me to take the train. But yes it'd be great if they extended the network and we got trains direct from Edinburgh to Milan or something like that.

I find airports hellish places. Stuffy, stressful, unkind places. I dislike flying, although the final hour or so when you're coming into land is quite exhilarating especially when you don't like being up in the air. Train travel to Europe is much more civilized and not even that expensive now when you consider how much the cost of flights have gone up.

Some of those evening games in the 90s.... maybe it was because I was young and impressionable but it was a real cauldron at times.

Can someone find that hilarious Daniel Hannan article about Britain after Brexit, and check what year it was set in... https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/06/14/litter-shoplifting-britain-third-world-daniel-hannan/

That Pakistani men are overrepresented in these cases is about as uncontroversial as it gets
-
Ahh Brussels. I sometimes used to travel between Europe and England by bus and we'd often stop at Brussels for 20-30 mins. Usually with those kind of stops I'd sleep through them but Brussels was the only place I'd get out and watch the luggage compartment until just before the bus was about to go.
-
I think "let's not burn down houses with foreigners in them" is a pretty uncontroversial opinion

Not much discussion on the attempted pogroms in Ballymena I see. Even worse than the attempted pogroms in Rotherham last summer. More evidence to the contrary that the UK is a particularly anti-racist or even very tolerant country compared to its peers.

To be fair I think everyone knows it's Pakistani men mostly involved in this

Fair enough I hadn't seen that. Totally insane if absolutely true.
