Did people with lower income lean towards Trump in 2024? Because from what I remember it was pretty evenly split and in fact I believe Democrats did slightly better with that demographic. The inequality argument doesn't really seem to stack up to me.

We gave everyone a good game in those days, home and away. Apart from at Highbury, where we were regularly thrashed.

Death to America, as always

He signed for us a few weeks after I went to my first ever game. And he scored the first goal in the first win I ever witnessed at Filbert Street. So really for me in that period he was Leicester City in the same way that Vardy is now, and like Vardy his character and story was as almost as important as what he did on the pitch. Growing up outside of Leicester he was really the only player of that era that non City fans took a great interest in. I'm not sure any player has had a greater per-game impact on the club and supporters. Only 63 league appearances (Luke Thomas has nearly made as many!) and he totally changed the history of the club.

Here's an interesting photo I got from twitter. See if anyone can guess where/when it was taken

Yeah probably you're right, it is more wishful thinking to be honest.

People rightly talk about the impact social media has had on voter preferences but perhaps it's underestimated how much social media discourse has changed how politics itself is done. DJ Guyliner being a good example of this. One of the most powerful people in the world going on like a based trad twitter account.

Book Where Leicester Win the World Cup, League and FA Cup

Never read any of his stuff but will give it a go then. At one point it would've made me melancholic that it had never happened. Now it's depressing thinking how it's passed... -
I think we hold some similar values but they don't really like or respect Europe that much. Most Americans in my experience are very friendly on an individual level but are quite hostile towards Europe especially regarding our history, which is manifesting now in the figure of Vance. It is understandable of course when you think of the history of their country but it makes more sense to ally ourselves with countries like France that have had similar historical experiences and face similar challenges. But I am biased.

Vance really represents that kind of chauvinism and contempt towards Europe that is latent in American culture. He's basically just a loud Yank complaining he can't get spicy food in Europe on holiday, but unfortunately in the position of VP. Hopefully this American administration further speeds up our process of moving away from them and ending this crap about the 'special relationship'.

Book Where Leicester Win the World Cup, League and FA Cup

I remember finding it in a book shop in Bulgaria in 2011 and explaining to my girlfriend that this was supposed to be a fantasy world where the impossible (e.g. Leicester winning the League and Cup) could happen. She told me I was being pessimistic and I dismissed her hopeless naivety. Then after we won the Cup in spring 2021, the first time we were in a bookshop after the reopening, we found it again and reflected on the incredible journey of the previous ten years. -

Rodgerβs vs the board (chicken vs egg)

I think his legacy is complex. He's a good coach as he's shown elsewhere, and despite missing out on the top 4 he was essentially pretty successful - our two highest back to back finishes ever and a major trophy. And our regression after that trophy win was obviously not totally down to him. At the same time as Davie G says above his demeanour and man management were seriously detrimental to the team and hastened our decline. He should have gone earlier. His spell at Liverpool also suggests he finds it difficult to create sustained success or reverse slides. I think some of the quite intense dislike towards him seems to be influenced partially by his personality. But he played a big role in our relegation. We sacked him 3 games later than we did Ranieri in 2017. If he's gone earlier and we'd stayed up as we did in 2017, I think his spell would be seen pretty positively. -
I haven't been much to Central Europe outside of Slovenia and bits of Austria. Would like to see more of the Visegrad countries especially Hungary.

I am actually quite sympathetic to the idea of following Danny Ward around and harassing him as he goes about his daily chores.
-
I think they've messed up with the Messi mania. It brings some short term publicity but if you focus so much on one player then obviously there's going to be a huge hole when that player retires

Have never been to Prague, which is definitely something I should put right

Ferocious! I showed the replay highlights to my teenage nephew a couple of last year and I'm not sure he could quite believe it was real. Got to be the most brutal match in FA Cup history.
