He always pronounces Germans the way someone would if they were about to complain they bombed their Gran's chippy.

What's with the Guinness fascination these days? Pretty bland stout.

literally worst thing about this is that I'm agreeing with Liz Truss

Who you think of when you think of smoking weed - students, dropouts and dodgy men loitering on streets in south London. Who you think of when you think of smoking tobacco - French intellectuals. Rest my case.
-
So does beer and all the disgusting takeaways that now dominate British high streets. At least smoking keeps you thin, God knows the Brits could do with losing weight. The government should absolutely not be telling people what they can and can't enjoy in their private lives but unfortunately this is what I've come to expect from a country where people would rather simply ban stuff they don't like rather improving things by paying more tax or building stuff in their neighbourhoods. The puritan streak runs deep. Also smoking is cool, in fact a cigarette and coffee is probably the pinnacle of world civilization. I don't want to deny my children one of the great joys in life - a morning cigarette on the terrace of ones country estate.

Leaving aside the fact that smoking is in fact very cool and sophisticated, I wouldn't mind the government micromanaging my life so much if they were committed to actually doing something about crime, the stagnating economy, declining living standards etc. Easier just to ban stuff I guess. I think this is probably the future of Britain, instead of investing in services we just progressively ban fun things "to protect the NHS".

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this. I hope by sharing this it's helped in some way. I have a similar situation with my Mum. I haven't experienced what you are going through, but I've told my Mum some of my and my partner's difficulties and like you said within a minute the conversation has turned on to her and her life. It's really frustrating and upsetting but I think it might be some kind of coping mechanism she has. So I know what it's like. I don't really know what to say other than things will get better and please do share with us how you're getting on. Sending very best wishes.

Seventy. Points. They got more in the next three seasons. Such weird people.

On this day in 1997 It was an amazing achievement for the club, especially after 30+ trophy-less years. With our recent success I think maybe we've forgotten what a fantastic era that was for the club. Not quite 2016, but very special in its own way. Still think peak O'Neill is our greatest ever manager.

True but it's really accelerated in recent years. When you watch football content from say the early 1990s, even with the advent of the Premier League, British football speak had its own very recognisable register and style. Nowadays football content, especially social media content, is so obviously much more influenced by the US it's pretty cringeworthy. And the idea that a pass in an association football game would be likened by a British commentator to an NFL player would be laughable even like 10-15 years ago. To be honest I don't think is confined to Britain, unfortunately.
-
I didn't think I could hate Darren Fletcher as a commentator any more and then he described an assist in the Barca game last week as "one Patrick Mahomes would be proud of". The ****.

Never been to Como unfortunately. If I won the lottery I'd probably spend the rest of my days pottering about Italy on trains reading and taking photos. So much to enjoy and admire.

Do We Want Southampton To Win Tonight ?
bovril replied to Lutterworth Fox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Or we could just win our games. -
Never understood why British conservatives are so enamored with Trump or America in general.

Robins please.

I think in the last half decade or so what we understand as 'stability' gets a little bit stretched every year. Each year seems to bring something that I would have guessed in 2010 would be the second biggest event of my lifetime after 9/11, yet they no longer feel that unprecedented or even shocking.

I can think of a few celebs that this has happened to. I think they were probably quite narcissistic to begin with which led them to overshare on social media, but also quite unused to being challenged.

Would recommend Trento and Spoleto too. I think you can fly to Perugia which is close to Spoleto. It's not far from Rome either. Very chilled out place.

Ravenna is both a nice, laid back town and historically one of the most important Italian towns. The medieval art and architecture is obviously amazing, and it's also close to some quite low key seaside resorts.

I think Florence is incredible but I haven't been for about seven years and can only imagine what it's like in the tik tok era

Sorry but making puns while people are dying is pretty low. The fact that the mods allow this is farsi-cal.

Love him. Top 5 favourite LCFC player.
