I think many people in England see everything through a socioeconomic lens and don't accept that much else is important beyond income inequality and "rich bastards" hoarding wealth. Whereas for many others, things like culture, nation, demographics are still more important. An example of this is when working class people celebrate stuff like the coronation, a lot of the middle class believe they've somehow been tricked by the cunning rich elite, when actually for many it's an important part of their identity and therefore more important than economic concerns. Having said all that, the small boats stuff is also about security, as you imply.

I think we are uniquely boned though. We bet everything on 'trading with the rest of the world' at precisely the wrong time. It also has negatively affected the university sector which is one of our last successful exports. I won't get into the relationship between the constituent nations lest someone accuse me of scaremongering but the UK feels a bit late Austria-Hungary at the moment. So yes there are things that most developed countries are struggling with but I don't think any country has followed the suicidal macroeconomic policy we have.

I do think Brexit is the biggest geopolitical error a developed country has made possibly since WW1, so even though it's not totally to blame for Britain's economic malaise, I think it's fair that a high % of people chose it.

They appear to, but they seem to have internalised the idea that the left are to blame, and Brexit is still brilliant. Though I'm going mostly on what I read online to be fair, obviously I would never mix with such people in real life.

Can't remember exactly the story but wasn't there a bit in that documentary about him when he said he went up to a Leeds fan and told him his dad was a **** He does come across as a ***** but to be honest it translated brilliantly on to the pitch. Very competitive and confident character. That kind of mentality contributed not insignificantly to our success.

Couldn't dislike Fofana purely because of his cup final performance. Savage and Simpson are good shouts, for different reasons obviously. For me probably Lloyd Dyer. Really thought he was overrated massively by our fans, but have to admit he was great in our 13/14 season.
