Which IPTV?? I'm assuming none are "above board" as such?
-
I still use it for match streams yeah.... What other alternatives are their through an Nvidia shield?? I'm open to trying new tech.

CRIL are advocating that the line is re-opened just to Coalville and then through to Derby. But NW Leicestershire council have voted to push for the whole line to be opened. or none at all. It may well be the case that Network Rail still push forward with a partial re-opening, as there is a general consensus that once the line is part opened, it will be easier to build the business case for a full re-opening afterwards. hopefully the council get on board, but it sounds like they want an all or nothing approach given the HS2 announcements and the Ivanhoe line being specifically called out. Here's the kicker though.... The current campaign, is centered around the "Restoring your railway fund".... and to secure that investment, even for a part opening, the project needs to be agreed and started before the next election. so I think the liklehood of this happening is diminishing all the time.

i'm all for paying the current level of taxes btw..... as long as I can see a palpable improvement in infrastructure, services or social support for those that need it. Unfortunately, I see none of those things in Leicestershire or the wider Uk, despite the higher level of taxes.... I'm hoping we see lots of reform and a change in priorities after the next election.
-
it wasn't a viewpoint, it was a question. They may well exist elsewhere. I don't know the answer to that.
-
do these two things mutually exist? We currently have high taxes and it's eroding everyone's standard of living....
-
the biggest thing that irks me, is the freezing of the tax thresholds. in 1990 only 3.5% of the population were in the higher rate tax bracket.... it's heading towards 14% when the tax thresholds will eventually be "unfrozen. £50,000 these days isn't a "high salary". The fact that the threshold at £100,000 hasn't changed since it was introduced is also crazy. if they wanted to be in a position where the same percentage of people these days were paying "higher rate tax" as they were in 92, then the threshold would need to be at £100,000. these days, middle earners are classed as higher rate tax payers and the impact on disposable income means that there isn't a huge incentive to move into that bracket and also when they do, they have less money to spend to help support local businesses.

my honest advice on this is speak to a Financial Adviser.... they will have seen these things 1000 times over.

and don't forget the OBR description of "the largest reduction in real living standards since ONS records began in the 1950s.” still. they've done well over the last 13 years or so the Tories haven't they. lol.
-
to quote the analysis on it............ " the largest reduction in real living standards since official records began in the 1950s."

I understand that point.... surely though they would use the March budget for any additional big announcements and use it as a battle ground for the election.... Surely with the current ratings in the polls, they wouldn't go early? unless of course, there is data that shows that lots of the population will have existing mortgage deals expiring later in the year and feeling the real effects of the impact of the Liz Truss debacle.... as well as a summer of boats arriving, debunking the myth that they've "stopped the boats"...

why do you think that?
-
That's relatively true of the fire HD tablets, I don't think that would apply to the others. In general you get what you pay for, so the more expensive Lenovo would be your better option for the full android store.
-
I'm an android phone user and I've historically bought FIRE HD tablets for the kids. But honestly, the tablet experience is a bit of a hot mess. Apps dont seem to be optimized for tablets and they run a bit slower than an iPad. The iPad is a much better experience in my opinion, but admittedly, it's been 4-5 years since the FIRE HD, the landscape might have improved.

I find it really wholesome that there are some many people on here going down this path and helping others that are. I have to a say, in a world where there are so many divisions, it's awesome to see the support.

really simply.... have a think about all of the businesses locally that you'd be interested to work for. Then go on linkedin and check out the people that work at that business..... you can narrow it down to find "recruitment" Or "resourcing" or "talent acquisition" in their job titles and then send them a connection request... if and when they connect (they absolutely will connect) drop them a message saying you are interested in working for the business and ask if they could spare you 15 minutes for a chat. lots of them will and even if they dont... you will see in the future the roles that they are advertising and can message them again when you see something you think you'd be a fit for... Ultimately, it's about becoming a known entity to them, in a positive way.

plus you can pretend you are a dragon.

have you tried vaping as an alternative? I used to smoke 20 a day until 8 years ago, then switched to vaping.... (admittedly, it's still an addiction I accept that) - but whenever I'd quit smoking in the past, low and behold, i'd have a few beers on a works night out or a christmas do and I'd be smoking 20 a day again. Ever since vaping, I don't have that temptation to bum a fag off someone and then go and buy a pack. now don't get me wrong, i'm entirely reliant on my vape... but mainly through fear of smoking fags again if I stopped vaping...

I rarely drink... and haven't done for about 15 years, but it all stemmed from a back injury where I was on so many meds for 12 months that I couldn't drink and I realised I didn't miss it. My Wife has essentially given up alcohol in the last 12 months and she used to really enjoy a drink. But she now drinks lots of the 0% beers and wines. Apparently the Corona 0% is good and Brew Dog do a good Alcohol Free beer as well. If it's your thing, (and it is mine) then the 0% guiness is very good. I got a bottle of 0% Gin last christmas, which was really great as is the Seedlip 0% spirits. It feels like you can have a grown up "soft drink" rather than drinking diet coke or water when everyone else is having a drink. There is a strong trend towards 0% beers, spirits and alcohol and the products have improved substantially. Good luck to anyone doing this due a poor relationship with Alcohol, it's a hard battle to win.

just in time for all those annual wage negotiations as well. perfect timing.

problem is for them, if they don't do that... than all of the questions at the dispatch box become about that. it's a sensible attack line. but a GE, with the main platform being re-join (tory) or stay as we are (labour) would be impossible to predict. especially given that a significant proportion of the population state that they want to re-join.... let's wait to see, but it would be a defining moment for Rishi and a clear separation from "the last 13 years"....
-
so IF Cameron is back in government..... and given his stance on the exit from the EU.......... Could this be the ultimate U-Turn from the government to win the next election? Cameron as Foreign Secretary to position closer alignment to or rejoining the EU.... leaving Labour with a position where they have committed to staying out of the EU........ that would be ultimate politics and part of Rishi's "making decisions for the long term" and would be a mammoth move.... Ironically.... if they did that... I could genuinely see them winning the election.

I can only talk about the business I work for I guess, which turns over £2bn a year... We don't use AI. Most recruitment software isn't sophisticated enough to do that and it definitely doesn't hide cv's from recruiters. I'm sure lots of people will tell themselves that's why they haven't got an interview... "It's the algorithm"... But the simple truth is that there were people who looked a better fit on paper. If I've got 20 live jobs that I'm managing and I've got even 50 applicants per job, it's not practical to speak to 1000 people. I might speak to the 200 Cv's that are the closest fit for those jobs, and I might then shortlist 5 people to interview for each job... But it's rarely an algorithm making those decisions up front. I'm happy to be corrected if others that work in recruitment are doing things differently, but I suspect the vast majority aren't.
-
The bit about keyword matching for interviews absolutely isn't correct..... That doesn't happen. HOWEVER you'd be surprised how many people apply to jobs.... I'd say on average, per vacancy, I've got between 100-200 applicants. This year alone at work, we've had 180'000 applicants to our open vacancies. You have to find a way to stand out or only apply for roles that are really suitable.

Reality is we are missing Ndidi and the replacements don't have the same quality. We really do lack good additional options in the middle of the park.
