Well exactly, I'm not saying the club are wrong for doing so, I'm saying if we want the player that badly we agree to it, we can't then moan when Chelsea come along and 'asset strip' us, getting the player/manager for a cut down fee. You either have the player and the clauses, or you don't. Anytime we've sold a player to Chelsea, who didn't have a release clause, we've gotten fantastic money.

Going for these managers is wild, Mckenna ffs, even Nigel Adkins got back to back promotions with Saints. Both of them need another couple of seasons IMO.

For a club like us, being asset stripped by someone like Chelsea is like winning the lottery, they overpay for pretty average players. It's down to us as a club to always have the next Kante, Drinkwater, Chillwell, Fofana or Enzo ready and waiting to sign. We should already be looking at replacements for players like KDH, Mads and Fatawu, all of these could be off within the next 12/24 months, hopefully for big money.

They'd probably end up with a draw from Man City, win their final game, and Villa lose to Palace, but that would have given Arsenal the title. I understand mathematically they were in with a chance of CL, but the percentages must have been very slim. Obviously I now believe Palace will beat Villa so everyone will go 'SEE!!', but that's only because Villa will now be on the beach as they've got the job done. I totally understand why so many of them are happy to have lost that game.

Vardy was 25 when he signed for us, he was 1m and he's a once in a decade player. It's very rare for players to develop as late as him and still be playing at 37/38.
