  1. I kind of understand the immediate emotional reaction to "do something" to help. £250,00 and growing if the reports are correct, seems a bit above and beyond. IMO enough to cover unexpected funeral expenses and to provide a nice memorial, maybe a community garden or something similar that can be an ongoing project, dedicated to their memory. I've never suffered such a loss so what do I know. Is there a limit set on GoFundMe appeals?

  3. I had this on the A46 last week. Stuck in a queue behind a truck overtaking another in the outer lane. Idiot self entitled dick in a BMW so close behind me I couldn't see the grille or bonnet badge in my mirror. It was obvious that I could only go at the same speed as the truck. When eventually I was able to get back into lane 1 he came up beside me and flicked the V's. Twats, these people.

  6. They both need a vest on.
  7. I'd imagine, given your location, it's easier to understand and has relevance.
  8. Young Offenders. Unintelligible, preposterous nonsense. Characters supposed to be of school age looking about 23 yrs old and a plotline that makes no sense.
  9. He posted that he was struggling and I think that he has since departed this world. Always recognisable by his posts and style of writing as well as his insight into City games I'm gonna say... RIP.
  10. I have since found this: "There is a huge range of pre-existing conditions that can be listed on the death certificate, from heart disease and cancers, to obesity and heart arrhythmias. For the more than 140,000 deaths that were due to COVID-19, it has been determined that COVID-19 was the underlying cause of death, as opposed to one of these pre-existing conditions. To conclude We distinguish between deaths that are “due to COVID-19” and those “involving COVID-19” to provide the most comprehensive information on the impact of the disease on mortality. More than 140,000 deaths have been due to COVID-19, meaning that it has been determined as the underlying cause. To exclude individuals with any pre-existing conditions from this figure greatly understates the number of people who died from COVID-19 and who might well still be alive had the pandemic not occurred". So what they're saying is that, although the deceased had a pre-existing condition, they died from Covid where otherwise they might have survived had Covid not happened. That still doesn't explain the figure included from traumatic deaths
  11. And that was bizarre in the extreme. I still don't understand how, if your certified cause of death was from a non-covid event such as you mention, but you tested positive at post-mortem, how is that related?
  12. The only word in that sentence I would consider generally comparable is "diet". There are plenty of overweight, obese, lazy, unfit, diabetic, respiratory and cardiac illness sufferers, alcohol and tobacco users in central European countries.
  13. Couldn't you get a table? I do know what you mean, though. And I do wonder if it was seen as a win-win for the Gov as it was meant to help a struggling hospitality sector but maybe they thought it would also increase herd immunity.
  14. A rare sight over Hinckley this afternoon. One of these, a Catalina after a commemorative flight over Shetland. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get an actual photo.
  15. But rarely do you get any more than 1 choice at Lidl or Aldi. If you don't like a particular product of theirs, you finish up going to one of the big 4.

  18. Trampede: an occurrence in which a large group of frightened or excited animals or people run together in a wild and uncontrolled way to escape from something, get out of a place, etc
  19. I think we know.
  20. Watching that video makes me realise more than ever, how dumb these evangelical, redneck Trump supporters are. (By the way, I typed this sentence into the MS Co-Pilot, AI editor to see if it would amend my post and I got this response: "I'm here to provide a positive and respectful environment for all users. Let's focus on more constructive topics". Jeez. Even AI is having a go at me.
  21. Well, coincidentally, I was just now prepping some veg and thinking to myself (independently of any knowledge of any similar thoughts), "what if someone in the inside was opposed to Trump and was aware of the shooters plan". Then I thought "that's preposterous, they must have a whole team of planners working together in preparation for a Presidential rally and not all of them could be involved in such a conspiracy". Like JFK, surely it's a lone gunman? Or is it?
  22. This photo coupled with the statement from the head of Security suggests that someone is now squirming in their seat looking for viable and believable reasons why there weren't secret service snipers covering Trump from that angle which had a clear view of the platform. In their absence the shooter had a clear line of sight. Clearly an error of planning and someone will be responsible.
