Once again, history and tradition about to be wiped from the city. This man is ignorant and has no consideration for the value, history and importance of our market. Leicester Market - Story of Leicester

I've seen several versions of this, most often it's Martin Lewis making millions or Robert Peston's sad ending. AI at a low level. It's gonna get worse. Everything you write and then use co-pilot to re-write, is stored somewhere and will be used in the future for who knows what, possibly against you personally? Am I being paranoid?

We didn't engage the autopilot, and I manually controlled the flight from T/O to landing. It involved setting up all the parameters, waypoints, and airport codes for departure and arrival before and during pushback. I had hoped to try throttle control and reverse thrust during take-off and landing, but I was instructed to concentrate on aligning the square with the crosshairs. The weather during the flight was real-time, yet it wasn't particularly challenging, even with some wind shear at the destination. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I might have embarrassed myself had I been allowed to do more on my first attempt. The instructor suggested that I could return to practice circuits and bumps, which might be more enjoyable since it involves an hour of continuous take-offs and landings. If I do it again, that's the option I'll ask for.

Piss off. I'm officially recognised by the forum as a "legend". Although I have no idea why. I'm pretty sure it's not for being a bellend I won a day once. Again, dunno why. I'll accept it along with the FT legend status to adorn my headstone: "Here lieth Parafox. Born 1955 beloved poster on FT who became a legend before his death on (date to be confirmed). Much missed by @Flamey and @Wymsey and those who quite liked his posts but who chose not to follow him much to their regret. RIP" .

Exactly my reaction. Inflation was bound to fall irrespective of their policies. The rest, failed.

I went on a "virtual flight experience" yesterday at a local establishment. I am sorry to say I was somewhat disappointed. It was a fixed ground simulator so there was no corresponding movement to anything the aircraft was doing. No sensation of acceleration and taking off, climbing, banking, and turning. No feeling of the speed brakes and reverse thrust on landing. No jolt on touchdown Basically, apart from flicking a few switches and inputting the flight plan into the onboard computer, it was an hour of trying to keep a tiny square on the cross point of the vertical and horizontal axis lines on the visual display in order to maintain level and steady flight. The instructor did all the fiddly bits and controlled the throttle levers, rudder and flaps. He spent most of the hour talking about his love of PlayStation and Call Of Duty and his musical tastes whilst I was totally focused on the flightpath screen. There were a few turns and ascents and descents that I had to control but that was about it. All in all, Β£100 to stare at a screen for an hour whilst moving the yoke to keep that square where it should be. At the end, I was offered the same "experience" for a much discounted cost of Β£79. No thanks. I wanted a decent airliner flying experience but sadly, this wasn't it.

Things to do and Special Offers in Leicester/shire
Parafox replied to davieG's topic in General Chat
I went to a 999 call at the temple at the Gypsy Lane/Catherine Street junction (forgive me I can't remember the name). The call was dealt with on scene with no transport required. We were offered, and accepted, food from the people there. Exceptional and very much appreciated. We were told that, as you say, it's what they all do, regardless of your beliefs. -
Remember this?

Why, though?

Going for the sympathy vote.

Between the traffic island at Abbey Park Road/Melton Road towards Vaughn Way has had significant investment to remove the old flyover and regenerate the approach to the so-called "Golden Mile". It did improve it mainly by scrapping the ugly concrete flyover and the fountains underneath it, which never worked. Still looks unattractive though.

@fuchsntf I fear has left us with the memory of his presence on here.

Our close friends are quite serious Catholics, in that they go to Mass every time, all their beliefs and the basis of their lives are based around Catholicism. They struggled to conceive and eventually they took the IVF course 3 times sadly with no success. They had no issue with the Catholic church's stance and neither did their Priest. They subsequently adopted 2 babies that were given up by the birth mum.

I'm working on a ponderous golfer/driver comment response to this.

I wouldn't disagree with you. Maybe that's why the news and the nation goes into freefall when there's an outbreak within the water system. That said, the reports of sewage overspilling into gardens and domestic properties is justifiably alarming and worrying. If sewage is allowed to be discharged into rivers and water courses who can say what controls are in place? The water companies don't do themselves any favours and it's no wonder confidence amongst the consumer is quite low.

I hear there's a film coming out about British prisoners being forced to build a railway bridge across a valley in Gloucestershire. It's called "The Bridge on the River Wye".
