Thanks. The feeders are designed for small birds and have 2 small trays to contain the seeds and that small birds hang on to. Problem is the seeds get knocked out onto the ground and then the larger birds take advantage, scaring away the birds we want. I guess it's just something we're going to have to accept. Pigeons are nesting under nearby solar roof panels and have been for several years now. I was led to believe that magpies would deter pigeons. That doesn't seem to be the case. They just won't go away.

We have put bird feeders up in the hope of attracting more birds to our garden. It's worked but not exactly attracting the small birds we'd hoped for. Sure, we get sparrows and a few finches but we are plagued locally by pigens and thay're an absolute PITA. The feckers land on the ground and peck at the seeds that have fallen out of the feeders, then magpies come down and then starlings. It seems impossible to keep these bastards away and encourage the small birds to the garden.

What time roughly, do you think?

It's tough, isn't it? Left me with a lingering sense of despair.

Given that creosote is no longer available to the general public, what is the best alternative product to treat an old shed that needs the wood sealing? Have used Ducksback and other similar products over the years, but they seem to weather away over time. Creosote used to last for years when my dad used it on the fences. Now nothing seems comparable.

Might have been mentioned on here already but, "The Other War". Graphic at times and an interesting watch to see first hand, the "crimes" being committed in the West Bank which have largely gone unreported.

Could you look into patenting? That way it becomes your property, providing there's nothing similar available and then you have control over it's use and the sales potential thereof.

I am, and let me assure you it was more than one bad experience. I can also assure you that I have never referred to the Irish people in a derogatory way. I only commented following personal encounters that I had with travellers (none of which have been pleasant),. In the same way I have commented on those rough sleepers/street dwellers that I have had personal encounters with. I have never generalised.

I agree. And pretty much no-one chooses to become homeless. For many it's circumstantial; mental health issues in particular, broken relationships, abuse, familial emotional or physical neglect, failed businesses leading to the loss of one's home. The reasons are often complex. For so many, living on the street is so awful that sadly, self medicate with drugs and alcohol to blot out the horrors of their circumstances and that is likely to be their lives until they die.

Assumptions again. You don't know their story, where they've come from, what has led them to this situation. You just assume they are "the dregs of society". Walk a mile in their shoes before you judge a person. I've met many rough sleepers who aren't drug users and I've met drug users who aren't rough sleepers (and they are by far the majority). People fall on hard and difficult times. Some get by, others fall by the wayside. What is your story Bert? Is your life so perfect? Do you have faults? Was there ever a possibility that circumstances could have led you down a different path? Don't be holier than thou. That's not a good look.

Have you ever been to the Hunterian Museum? That's is a fascinating place to visit if you're into surgical and anatomical history.

Bizarrely, a place I'd love to visit, looking at the names on headstones and wondering what life they led.

How do you know they're the "dregs of society". Two very sweeping judgements that you have absolutely no basis in fact to make. You can't make out that you are philanthropic in the first example and then become Suella Braverman in the second.

I've listened to conversations amongst fellow volunteers and others and the general consensus is, that once M&S closes, they won't bother visiting the city centre again. They are generally in the older population demographic, though. Even so, other retailers and independents in the centre are bound to be affected by the loss of M&S and the resulting potential for reduced footfall in town. I also disagree and believe it's disingenuous of BDC to make such a statement that I've put in bold. It's not Blaby attracting major retailers, It's Fosse Park, which just happens to be in their district. Where else in Blaby District are there "major retailers" that aren't supermarkets or DIY outlets?
