  1. I don't think it matters if we have a striker or not, we don't utilise them. All we do is push it to the wingers and tell them to either whip a cross in to nobody, recycle it back and pass sideways another 20 times, or the winger cuts in and blazes it wide. Ayew is not the goalscorer we need, but he's perfectly capable of 10+ goals in this division if he's allowed to enter the box. The way our system plays, every time Ayew receives the ball he has his back to goal and is 30+ yards out, we don't have goalscoring strikers because Marti is stopping them being goalscoring strikers, he doesn't play a system that allows them to play on the shoulder or burst into the box, he instructs the team to pass it around as a snails pace and allow the opposition to put 5 players in the box. I feel sorry for Ayew at the moment, he's a scapegoat for an awful tactical system.
  2. I think many expected us to be somewhere around 6th at this stage a few months ago, but that's because they expected Ipswich, Southmapton and Sheffield United to be running away with it. So I think when you considr all 3 of those teams are struggling badly, this entire thing feels like a huge opportunity wasted especially given the manner in which our results have come. Personally I thought Top 2 (before any deduction) should be the goal given we have 5 players that you could put into a list of the greatest players this league has ever seen. We are 5th because everyone else is playing poorly, if we had capitalised on our matches by playing the way we all expected to play we could easily be top 2, instead we seem to be playing this boring and predictable football that many of us feared and it's costing us.
  3. I think we all know he's got 1 hand tied behind his back, the issue is he seems to be voluntarily tying the other behind his back too.
  4. The thing that is annoying me the most is that the 3 points you’ve made were the main propaganda that sold me into accepting “possession at all costs” football once again. And just like the last time I find myself bored to sleep yet somehow this is now even worse. Enzo had a better team, sure, but we aren’t even attempting anything, it’s boring, it’s slow, it’s predictable. All I’ve wanted to see is crash and bash football, I’ve now sat through Puel (who I defended), the demise of Rodgers, Enzo, Cooper, Ruud and now Marti. That first 18 months under Rodgers was magical, I miss it, I genuinely have to make myself watch us because I watch football to be entertained and we’ve been boring for years. less than 1xG ffs. We have Fatawu, Mavididi, Monga, Winks and Ricardo and we have less than 1xG.
  5. I'd be happier if he just said to hell with defending, attack attack attack. Winks, Mavididi, Monga, Fatawu and Ricardo are absolutely miles above this level as proven under Enzo, they are being completely nullified by Marti-ball. We create absolutely nothing with 5 players that have to be up there in the list of best players the championship has seen, atleast in recent years.
  6. Hate possession football so i've had a bias against his system from day 1, the only thing that stops me from publicly calling for him to go is the fact he seems to somewhat "get" the club and sounds like he understands our position, but on the pitch i'm not fussed if he goes tomorrow. Boring, slow, predictable football as I feared. I was sold the idea we would be dominating the ball in a "crash and bash" style attacking flurry with potentially big scorlines at both ends. We've been turgid upfront with 5 players you would consider "cheat codes" at this level, and produced less than 1xg in every single game, and still make mistakes in defence. Give me heavy metal gegenpress over this any day of the week.
  7. 'Smashing effort Leicester fans, now let's have a look at what you could have won'
  8. No this is amazing! We have 70% possession!!
  9. His toothless system doesn't help. Slow, predictable.
  10. I guess Vestergaard is this weeks scapegoat for Leicester being absolutely toothless in attack. Poor defending for sure... But we have Mavididi, Monga, Fatawu and Harry Winks in the championship and we are toothless. Same old possession obsessed football philosophy. 70% Posession. GET IN!!!!
  11. Come January if we have the finances we could probably pick up Pierce Charles for £3-5m if Wednesday are still in trouble. Absolutely massive ceiling. Wanted him as much as I wanted Rohl. Jakub looks good enough for this level but Charles will go on to be a top 6 club keeper 100% imo.
  12. Regarding Ayew I often feel bad slating him because I don’t think he’s generally played very badly, his game just doesn’t suit what we need him to do. If we are protecting a lead and we need a striker to come on and slow the oppositions build down and hold up the ball and provide a link up, I don’t think he’s really done much wrong in that respect, the issue is we need him to be an out and out striker and he’s just not that. I don’t think it’s fair for me to criticise him too harshly because he’s a hard worker and he’s done quite an acceptable job at the things he’s good at. Scoring just isn’t one of them therefore he needs to be dropped or we need to play a different system. Continuing to pick him then play a style that doesn’t suit his strengths is just asking for trouble.
  13. Yeah you’re not wrong there at all, the issue is how we are currently using the possession. Usually the whole idea of possession is that you spend less energy passing a ball than the opponent having to run around moving into position, just like under Enzo we spend most of the game passing the ball so slowly that the opponent midfielders can literally walk side to side. I was sick of Enzoball for the same reason, I’m all for dominating the game if we are moving it quickly and trying to play it forward then high pressing if we lose it, we pressed quite well at times today but we were just so slow for most of the game.
  14. Another bang average performance. The only time we play decent football is when it’s in areas that don’t actually pose a threat. We ping 3-4 first time passes around then create nothing with the overloads. We are too easy to defend against, all they have to do is force us onto the wings and double up on Mavididi/Fatawu, they are forced to either cross it into absolutely nobody or produce a magic strike. We have Monga, Mavididi and Fatawu, all 3 of them should be cheat codes in this division yet our system is currently forcing them to produce miracles because they have basically no support from anyone else. Ayew and Mavididi need to be hooked for a few games. Marti is creating problems then people are crediting him for fixing them. Absolutely hate possession football. Especially when you’re not very good at it.
  15. Carranza must be seriously unfit or seriously poor.
  16. Right now id back him to get more out of the squad offensively than Marti is. We haven’t had more than 1xG this season yet, all we do is play it to the wings and either pray for absolute magic or just cross it in to nobody. Every time we play decent football it’s nowhere near the opponents goal and usually it’s played around Ayew having his back to goal. Why this man continues to play Mavididi over Monga and keeps putting Ayew upfront instead of just giving Carranza a start is mindblowing (although I can understand we are limited upfront) Before that it was Skipp and Soumare for how many games? Nelson still being overlooked… The team is low on confidence and I agree it definitely still needs a lot of work, but Marti isn’t helping himself.
  17. Rohl is still available…
  18. Has anyone got a decent link, I’m out at the moment and mine is garbage
  19. We 100% had the better chances.
  20. Problem is, Coventry saw this a mile away and quite often nullified Fatawu and Mavididi, and we just didn't offer them much support. Fatawu looked dangerous at times, but Cov often kept him quiet.
  21. Completely agree with all of this, despite not thinking Ayew has played bad overall, I think he's done well if his job was to hold up the ball and slow the game down and help us control the tempo. Sadly though he often breaks down our attack before it's started albeit he does have flashes of doing the right thing. If Carranza is decent and he can start and score us 20 goals this season, Ayew is the perfect player to come on when the opposition are building into the game to really slow it down and regain control of the game. As an out and out goalscoring striker Ayew just isn't it.
  22. So that negates your point unless I've misunderstood? I said Coventry today were nowhere near as good as they have been in previous games, you then seemingly countered that by pointing out they have had an easy start which explains the amount of goals they have scored/how well they have played, or was that not your point? If it was, then surely pointing out the fact we have had just as "easy" games as them, shows that Coventry were indeed "off" today compared to previous matches.
  23. My bad confused myself, they played Milwall in the cup, they played Oxford. The point being if you think they have had one of the easiest starts in the division, it's no easier than ours really. We've played 3 teams that are currently 18th or below.
