You’re right, it only pains me in the sense of hating his attitude last season such as posting photos in beer gardens when we were getting relegated etc. New page and all that I guess
-
As much as it pains me to say it, Winks has to start.
-
Not a great performance in general. Winks absolutely changed the game and was MOTM, but make no mistake, this is a weak Sheffield Wednesday side who had 3 injuries, no pre season, a chaotic environment and a red card. We dominated the game because Wednesday sat back, we were poor whenever they pressed so we have a long way to go. Good start and 3 points is 3 points. If we get a 25m bid for Bilal I’d take it. He was nullified really easily with a compact midfield, would rather take that money and go out and buy a decent CM to partner Winks, a striker and then buy Pierce Charles.
-
You don’t need to forgive someone to not abuse them as they come onto the pitch.
-
Fans booed him onto the pitch. They FULLY deserve that celebration.
-
If teams sit back Bilal won’t get a sniff this season, would be nice to keep him but £25m and we have to say goodbye. Overrated by us, good ceiling but nowhere near the ceiling Leicester fans think he has.

Wednesday have actually kept on to more players than I thought they had, their team can cause problems if we start slowly. Expecting a comfortable result for the most part but they can't be written off for a snatch and grab if we don't have our shooting boots on. -

That also wouldn't surprise me at all, it's just a gut feeling anyway nothing tangible to base it on other than Marti managing to take those "moments" he has and make them more consistent -
Your mood in 10 words? Quietly confident – with reasonable deduction (-6), top two feels achievable. Where will we finish? 2nd. How many points will we be deducted? 6 after appeal. Who will be our most important player? Fatawu. Who will be top scorer? Fatawu. What are you most excited about? Monga. What are you most worried about? The football slowing down and becoming Enzo v2. What’s one thing you most want to see this season? The club over the course of the season showing us they have turned a corner and gone back to the old blueprint, no more stupid contracts, communication with fans, rebuilding the foundation on and off the pitch. Which player is going to surprise us? Soumare Which player do you most want out the door? Faes. Which player linked with a move are you most desperate to keep? Meh, maybe Bilal unless we get a £25m bid. Will Martí Cifuentes still be the manager this time next year? Yes.

Gut feeling is he plays 35+ this season and does well. From what I've seen so far in pre season I am putting trust in Marti that he knows what he's doing, if Soumare plays then it's because he deserves it. I just hope he's not another manager that picks favourites and sticks with them regardless. -

If you're at the game today please support the Wednesday fans. Applaud them taking their seats, sing with them, use this as an opportunity to show our own board we are more than capable of rallying together if they continue to mess around with our club, but most importantly show some unity to Wednesday. Historic club with a decent fanbase being ripped apart in the name of egotism and greed. -

Don't want Soumare starting, but he's miles above this league even with his lazy attitude, Wednesday are going to sit in a deep block so the midfielders are going to spend most of the game trying to find creative openings, Soumare is better at that than Skipp or Winks. -
If Marti carries on like this I might have to propose to him.

Who are your Championship dark horses for this season?
cityfanlee23 replied to cityfanlee23's topic in Leicester City Forum
I really like Japhet Tanganga in defence, can play RB or CB, wanted us to sign him a couple of seasons ago as he would be probably £5-6m but we have too much depth there now and he would want to be starting every week. If we sold Vestergaard + Faes i'd take him, not sure if he's prem quality but his move to Millwall really took his play to the next level and he is still improving for them. Really wouldn't be surprised to see him move to another championship top 6 team if Millwall fail this season. -

I knew they had good form but didn't realise it was that strong! I just thought Alex Neil is a solid manager and given a bit of backing can get the most out of them, they are going under the radar because of how many bigger clubs are expecting to challenge -
Their Defender Japhet Tanganga is very underrated.

Copy and pasted from my post in the the Mads Hermansen thread that is now locked: Jakub was ideally a ready made replacement under Ruud/Cooper, is he a ready made replacement under Marti-ball? his distribution and passing under pressure is his biggest weakness. Honestly, I'd love Jakub to prove me wrong as I think he's prem potential in most systems, but he's yet to show he is good enough on the ball so can only hope he improves. Jakub has a pass accuracy of 51%, long ball accuracy of 30%. As much as I want us to stand with Wednesday and the thought of them being asset stripped in their current situation is awful, Pierce Charles is far better on the ball and imo is going to be a top 6 goalkeeper for years to come when he escapes Wednesday. Would be cheap given their situation, Pass accuracy of 76%, 52% long ball accuracy, Goals prevented 2.4 (Jakub -0.62 albeit at a higher level) Pierce charles is the real deal. I hope Jakub can be too. https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/players/1096327/jakub-stolarczyk https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/players/1420144/pierce-charles There are now faint rumours we are in for Pierce Charles.

This, taking your chances is absolutely vital in this league. Ultimately we know that refs are going to make decisions against us, we just need to make sure that come the end of that 90 minutes we aren’t then using that as an excuse as to why we didn’t come away with 3 points. Wrexham could have had the game dead and buried by half time today, and Southampton should have scored multiple but kept putting it right down the middle.
-
I actually really like Wrexham and it's great to see a small club being revitalised, considering they've spent the same amount to get to where they are today that Birmingham spent on a single window last season I want them to do well. The Hollywood nonsense irks me a little bit, but I secretly wish we were contacting Netflix etc especially after the decade we have had, it brings in millions across the globe, revenues are increased and ultimately if we do well can set us up for a new generation of growth. Don't have any issues with Reynolds or Mcelhenney, I think they've both bought right into their community and are running the club very well. The only thing that's been a little annoying is the overhyped football community banging on about how they are going to be top 6 when there is zero evidence before this game that they are even close to that. Other than that I hope they can finish comfortably safe and continue building.
-
Was going to put this into the championship thread but figured it would be buried so might be nice to have a place to follow all of our predictions. I also know there is a predictions thread but that was solely focused on LCFC. Doesn’t necessarily need to be for automatic promotion, it could also be a dark horse team for top 6 or even survival against the odds. My predictions: Firstly I think Norwich will be fighting for automatics within roughly 4-6 points off of top 2 come the end of the season. I think Millwall will be a surprise top 6 challenger. This one isn’t really much of a “dark horse” amongst our fans, but many fans across the league have written us off. If we get 6 points deducted, we can still challenge automatic promotion and will be comfortably top 6. Im not sure the hype around Birmingham and Wrexham is warranted and I can’t see them being top 6. Mods please merge if you feel this shouldn’t have its own thread, didn’t want it to get lost there, and the current predictions thread is only really related to Leicester City unless I’ve missed a different thread.

Feel for Wrexham here. They just don’t have the quality to finish some really good chances, should easily have had this game dead and buried at half time but they kept wasting chances. Southampton blatantly had more quality but thankfully for Wrexham they were constantly shooting directly at Ward in the middle of the goal. If Southampton had their shooting boots on they could have scored multiple too. Hope Wrexham stay up this season but they are nowhere near top 6 at this moment, was so surprised how many people bought into the hype of a top 6 challenge around football in general. Same for Birmingham.
