They’ve had a bid rejected.

I’d be all over this. I rate him Highly as a player and I think he’s more of a start than people will give him credit for. He’s better than Choudhury, Ndidi and Soumare with the ball at his feet. At the moment, I could see him occupying a midfield with him and Winks alongside Ndidi. If anything, unless Choudhury improves, I don’t see him as a long term first team player.

I despise Rome as a city. It’s an awful place. Leicestershires greener areas are much nicer.

Trafford will likely start to feature more in the future squads to push Pickford. I was thinking maybe Wharton, Miley, Scott, Elliott, Mainoo, Chukwuemeka will push for the centre mid spot. Lewis Hall will push for the left back slot, as we only have Shaw. Braithwaite, Quansah and Colwill will most likely start to be integrated as centre back options now. Livramento, Rico Lewis and TAA should be the full back options. Walker is done. Bynoe-Gittens, Gordon, Barnes will be the left winger slot. Slot this in with the existing talent of Bellingham, Foden, Gheuhi, Konka, Rice, Watkins, Palmer, Shaw, Stones, Saka, Grealish, Maddison, Chilwell, Gallagher etc and we’ll be fine. For me Walker, Kane, Trippier, Sterling, Henderson and the likes should all now be done at international level. The biggest challenge, will be who replaces Harry Kane. I don’t think Toney / Watkins are that level. It’s also a crime that Tomori gets constantly overlooked as well.

Right. Now that it’s over, time to focus Leicester.

It’s simple really how we move forward from here. Walker, Kane, Henderson and Trippier should all cease to play international football now. In the absence of balanced squads, we need to play a system that suits the players we have and covers the inadequacies we have. Unfortunately the next Manager has a choice to make, as I’m not sure you can fit in Saka into a system that accommodates that. We need a double pivot as a basis to build from. No point having talented players, if only half of them are on the pitch.

They didn’t know how to beat the box press, as no one came short to pass and move. To beat that team, we needed a Grealish, Maddison, Bellingham, Foden setup. Rice isn’t good enough on the ball to play that system. Kane doesn’t generate space by pushing the defence back, so they squeeze the space around the 10s. Kanes lack of movement, also allows them to double up on Saka. The lack of movement from our midfield as well allowed Williams all sorts of room. Rice and Mainoo had a torrid game and that’s where we need to look at improving this team. In a bizarre way, you potentially need someone with Winks ability on the ball but with the comparative nature of Ndidi 17 / 18. I can’t think of one English player that suits that role, for what should be the heartbeat of the team. Without that, we’ll resort to going long.
