  1. Says everything about how far our recruitment has fallen that we spent the best part of £100m (Slimani, Iheanacho, Daka, and Cannon) trying to replace Vardy and combined they aren't fit to lace his boots. No fault of his that it came a couple of years too late. Not just a Leicester legend but a premier league great. Never seen top quality defenders as unnerved as they were when Vardy was at his best. You'd often see them just boot the ball out of play even if he was nowhere near them. Get the statue built.
  2. It's not irrelevant at all. Without the funding from a nation state and abusing the financial rules, Man City aren't that much of a bigger club than us and would probably be a middling PL club at best. Times do indeed change, which means it's nigh on impossible for clubs like Huddersfield to achieve what they did previously. Football is now more than ever governed by money, and there are only so many oil rich Middle Eastern countries looking to invest in football clubs (not that I'd want us to be taken over by one anyway)
  3. Not sure anyone is saying you should look at a single point in history and assume that's where a club should be. I don't think a club like ours should consistently be as low down as league one, in the same way it shouldn't be consistently challenging for top 6. But we've done both of those things in recent history. I wouldn't be using Man City as an example anyway cus they've essentially cheated the system to get to where they are now
  4. I think the mistake you've made is thinking we were ever in a position to consolidate ourselves as a top club. That just isn't the way football works. The natural order means we're a club who should be finishing anywhere between the bottom half of the PL to the top half of the Championship. You can over achieve and under achieve, like we've done on several occasions over the last 30 years. But that is our standing in the football pyramid. Of course the decisions you make on and off the pitch affects that and I'm not removing the blame from anyone at the club. In fact I think the problems were originally created by the people at the top of the club sharing your mentality that we had the opportunity to establish ourselves as a big club. We moved away from selling our best players when we had the chance and implemented a ridiculous wage structure that was well beyond our means. But even if we did everything right, we would have still just delayed the inevitable that eventually we would revert to being a bottom half PL club or top half Championship club. And for those praising Brentford, Bournemouth, Brighton etc, I'd place a bet that they'll all end up getting relegated in the next 5-10 years. Pretty depressing view of football I know, but that's just the reality.
  5. JJ's performance must be a close second
  6. I'd love to know when opposition managers are preparing to play us and they have to identify our strengths, what the fcuk do they say
  7. It's not just your club though, it's all of ours. If people spend good money to get to London on a Thursday night and want to clap at that dross then so be it. Some people might find it disgusting that you seem willing to take a further drop into L1 to 'get your club back', but you're entitled to your opinion. I personally think it would be a disaster for us to slip any further and hope we manage to stabilise the club next year with or without the owners, Rudkin and most of the current players
  8. You may be right but you have to admit we didn't deserve a single one of those points we accumulated under Cooper. The underlying numbers suggested the form was always going to fall off a cliff
  9. No blame on Vardy for signing the contract. The blame is all on the club for offering it to him. Makes us seem like a tin pot club offering contracts for sentimental reasons. Look how Liverpool are dealing with Salah and Van Dijk- they're thinking long term and acting in the best interests of the club
  10. There was a cross towards the end of the game where a half sharp Vardy gets across his man and at least gives himself a chance. Instead he was on his heels and let the defender just head it away. I get what people are saying about the service but he's just not sharp enough anymore
  11. He's not to blame but the fact we gave him a new contract is a sign of how bad the decision making at this club has been. Putting sentimentality over the needs of the club
  12. It's tough but I struggle to get that angry at players who simply aren't good enough at this level. Too many short term decisions have left us in this position. Let Ruud take the fall for the rest of the season while planning wholesale changes in the summer
  13. So we pay Ruud off and bring someone else in who will inevitably fail and carry that negativity into the championship. I'd keep him just so we can save a bit of money and reset in the summer
  14. Sack him, don't sack him, it really doesn't matter. The players aren't anywhere near good enough for this level- once you accept that fact, it makes you alot less angry at what's happening right now
  15. We play some decent stuff at times but the lack of pace in forward areas is killing us. Not Mavididi's biggest fan but can't really understand him not getting a look in
  16. I agree, this forum is ridiculous for OTT reactions and I tey to avoid them where possible. But I've not seen a first half like that in a while. It was the nature of the goals more than anything, you don't see goals like that at this level. And I did say worst half I've seen in a while, not worst half I've ever seen
  17. Not one for hyperbole, but that was the worst half of football I've seen in a long time. Those are the type of goals you don't see teams conceding at professional level let alone premier league level. Defence is bad but it's all over the pitch, absolutely miles off it
  18. It's just a poor squad of players. You can argue about the odd choice here or there but nothing is working. I get he wants to try and go a bit more defensive because we have to try to stop leaking so many goals. But a midfield of Winks and Soumare is so easy to cut through I can't see that changing the wide players will make too much difference
  19. Well I wouldn't have got rid of Cooper for exactly that reason but I still think performances have improved and I don't see any point in changing again
  20. I'd stick by him. Performances have been slightly better under Ruud even though the results have been worse. We were going down this year no matter what, give him some time to implement his style for the Championship next year
  21. Performances have been better under Ruud than Cooper, but results much worse. Either way, we were going down. The lack of joined up thinking in the recruitment and managerial appointments concerns me most. I would accept going down if I could understand there was a long term strategy
  22. Performance is good. Plenty of endeavour, Vardy's link up play seems better now than when he was at his peak. Crying out for more pace on the counter, the loss of Fatawu really is a killer for us
  23. The amount of guff which was spoken when Cooper got sacked that this team were some how being held back by the manager. Cooper probably wasn't the right choice, not sure RvN is either. But this squad at full strength just isn't good enough let alone when we're missing our 2 best players in Fatawu and Hermasen. I'll give RvN a chance but the recruitment in January has to be looking at the long term rather just trying to muddle our way through this season
  24. I agree, it's strange he hasn't taken to Buonanotte. Don't know if there's a reason behind that or not. But you've kind of proved my point by saying that the best player in our squad is a kid who at the minute isn't thought to be good enough to play for Brighton
