This best squad on paper chat is a load of old tosh, we might have some of the biggest names on paper but not the best & yet even our fans are using this as an excuse to hit the manager with, despite the same fans having a thread on each & every player saying how shite they are (except JJ) so what is it... best or most well know (which doesn't automatically translate to best) ? He was building himself up to playing Nelson & Okoli, this had pushed Faes out (a win) & would have liked to think Vestergaard in time but unfortunately both got themselves injured. Ramsey's red & subsequent injury broke our best cycle of play under him with WInks-JJ-Ramsey as the centre 3, there isn't a better combination from all the players we have, yes you can put Page or Monga in the 10 but their inconsistencies of youth could potentially hinder them as starters but that means switching it up with BCDR / JJ as 10 but 1 good 20mins from BCDR which has our experts saying he should start is typical of this forum..he is an impact player at best. JJ whilst playing out of position is the best we can put in there but its asking alot from him due to having Skipp/Soumare in his best position & him trying to also cover there. Every week within 0.5seconds of DaveG pasting up the team sheet people start to moan but the reality is our squad isn't great especially when we have injuries. Most posters probably didn't think we would get auto's especially with a points deduction so maybe a play off position or just survive this season & build for the future once the PSR issues & deadwood are no longer hanging over our heads? but now all kicking off because we are out of reach of the autos, what is it we want? I like Chelmofox above believe he does want to play aggressive on the front foot attacking football but just doesn't have the squad to do it week in week out, i've made my peace with not going up & him staying as long as deadwood is cleared & not re-rewarded, JJ signs & we then get more players in to suit what he wants. We are a project most would agree but then sound off because we are not in positions 1 or 2 & this thread started just 7 games into the season , what's the point of chopping in a manager every 6mths when we have the same players, how do we know if we signed the best young manager in Europe that he could / would turn this rabble around in 6mths at somepoint you have to twist & roll with what you have & it might as well be Marti for this season.

it must have been the 3rd as he was part of the issue for 2nd, & for that 3rd he only needs to vent his anger at his International CB partner as it was him that got skinned like a schoolboy by HB. I was actually going to say the reverse to shouting & caring etc as i just saw him walking away saying nothing, he's meant to be a leader but he hid away from what i saw.

If Coventry go up I wonder if Lampard stays as I’m sure some of the more established middle-lower clubs will probably be looking for managers

This game period we are currently in will see who can cope & come 4th Jan 26 the table might look a little different. The championship is currently in a cycle of 11 games in a 42 day period, w/end just gone matchday 16 to matchday 26 on the 4th Jan prior to a winter break..bring it on!

Yes there probably will be some protection for existing contracts & the top clubs probably won’t feel the pinch but it’s geared for them, a they can spend close to half a billion in 1 sitting & discount 200k+ contracts & be safe from existing PSR rules they probably are not going to be affected that much with this change. Its more the little guy the likes of Bournemouth paying/receiving 30-40m on players or being able to sway a player by paying 10-20-30k more pw from a like minded club will most certainly dry up. Think Villa have a charge pending with regards to the UEFA rules don’t they & they would be seen as the biggest club outside those top 7 earners, so don’t bode well for those behind them.

Of course it’s welcome but my comment is about their flannel of putting £300 back in my pocket as I will not, I will just not have another £300 taken from it.

Again I’m not knocking Coventry, I’m merely pointing out to those that have already written us off that they haven’t yet 1 the league and that we can still make the top 6, 2nd or even win it with 90pts to play for. Our largest points difference between us and 2nd was during week 32 which was 11pts that was Southampton & we were 12pts ahead of 3rd place Leeds…..we ended up 1pt ahead of Ipswich so we can come back into this quite easily

Yes reading that this morning though and how they (Gov) are speaking as if they are putting money (£300) back in our pockets but actually the truth is they are just not taking another (£300) from us, I’m sure they think we are bloody idiots.

I take no credit away from Coventry they are deserving of their current position. But as you bring up our 23/24 season our gap between 2nd and the chasing pack was far greater than Coventry’s currently is and we ended up falling over the line with a 1pt lead from 2nd placed Ipswich & just 3 wins from not getting automatic promotion altogether, there are still 90pts to play for and anything can happen still, it is far from a done deal.

We also received 6 yellows during the Boro game, which was again laughable as we seemed to be getting smashed by their players who only received 1 yellow & a red (last few minutes for that) Both Brittain & Conway could have received reds and probably should have received a red in the case of Brittain for his persistent fouling and the constant chasing, surrounding and barracking at the ref but he never even received a yellow. Anyway the commentator did mention, at 5 yellows we were 1 away from a fine and obviously we got that 6th card but not heard anything on it since & doing a quick search seems we don’t get fined in the championship so he was probably confusing himself with premier rules also.

Have you looked at points on the table not just position Corky? We are 1 win from 3rd, 2 wins from 2nd & 4+a draw from top spot, there are 90 pts still to play for. I know it’s all dependent on what teams above do but we are going into a period where these teams play each, it’s 1st v 2nd, 6th v 8th on Tuesday for instance they can’t all win so if we can get a win v STH it probably sees us jump into top 6 with 87pts still to play for 🤷‍♂️ Whilst Coventry are on a nice little streak that is seeing things go their way they will lose and draw games and probably sooner rather than later, it’s then how they manage that, it’s possible come January they are no longer top.

Can’t help feel if that was Leicester player making the Cresswell challenge it would have been red…but if he got a yellow how come they had the throw in ?

That all said id now replace him with BDCR and JJ dropping due to Skipps yellow. Robins will have them fired up and wouldn’t surprise me if he says to target Skipp with cheap shots and the officials being what they are will be quick to hand out a 2nd. They will / have to come out fighting and we will need 11 players on the field

Sky sports headline: Coventry City complete a stunning comeback to secure all three points at the CBS Arena against West Brom This would suggest that Coventry came from a 4 nil deficit with 15minutes to play and down to 9 men….not go in at HT 1-2 down then play almost the entire 2nd half with a man advantage to secure a win. I guess Coventry are this years Leeds for Sky.

if Reid started I’d imagine both he and Marti would be getting slated within 15-20 mins. Page & Ramsey are both injured therefore we have no 10 unless you want to put Ayew there..no ..so JJ has to fill that hole which means Soumare or Skipp have to fill the hole left by JJ, yes you could put Hamza in there but that would just create a whole load of other negative comments. Our squad is our squad and that’s probably the best he could put out, I too would of liked to see Aluko start in instead of LT but then he’s on the bench to cover injuries at both CB & FB positions, we are limited in what we can do🤷‍♂️
