  1. I was searching for info on this match and came across your post. I was also at the game. Even now people think I'm mad when I say who I saw that night or rather that cold cold night I do seem to remember having a programme but can't be 100% certain about that. Something in the back of my head says I had one.
  2. You're right he was told to cut the wage bill. He signed the same amount of players as had left. The quality suffered obviously. The only player he sold for any money was Connolly and the wage bill was reduced when Elliott, Keown, Pressman and Nalis left but increased again when we signed Maybury, de Vries, McCarthy, Kisnorbo and Hughes. He spent the £2m we received from Wigan for Connolly well imo. We spent half of it on Fryatt and Hume who averaged a goal every three games between them. Shame about Hammond I desperately wanted Levein to suceed but he signed too many players with little or no experience of Championship football. I remember thinking at the time how big the gap was between playing in the Championship and playing in Scotlands top league.
  3. Portsmouth were crippled by contracts dished out under previous owners and the terms of their administration. After three consecutive months of not being paid players gave them two weeks notice and found other clubs. Despite these players leaving on free transfers and signing contracts with new clubs when they went in to receivership these players registered themselves as creditors. Several years later when Portsmouth were playing in League 2 they were still paying players as much as £5k a week. Two dozen players were paid £7m over three years despite the fact that they were earning at their new clubs...shame on them. Nugent, Etutu, Ben Haim, Kanu, Benjani, James and Lawrence to name a few.
  4. I think I'm right in saying that he appointed five managers in under three years and another five caretaker managers However, we shouldn't forget how awful the administration he replaced were. They saved our club from extinction and I appreciate that but they didn't have a clue when it came to dealing with agents and they would have ruined us had they not sold to us MM. Some of the contracts they sanctioned under Craig Levein were staggering. I was out in Amsterdam watching Scotland play the Netherlands and on the flight back I was sat next to Ferrie Bodde. He played for Swansea and he was very good friend of Mark de Vries. He told me that on the day we signed Mark de Vries from Hearts he rang him and said "I've just won the lottery" Saying that his last minute FA Cup winner against Spurs in 2006 when we was 2-0 down was worth the £1.5m fee
  5. Most of our opinions on Milan Mandaric will largely depend on when you started supporting City. A quick search of his name on here will prove that! His tenure was a rollercoaster ride that's for sure but I loved every minute of it. For me his legacy was finding us the owners we have today and for that I shall be forever grateful. So what are your opinions off him?
  6. Things I've watched recently on Netflix. Spy with Baron Sacha Cohen 7/10. True story, Well written, shame about some of the acting. Destroyer with Nicole Kidman 8/10 Kidman is brilliant in this just wish we'd seen more of the brilliant Toby Kebbell Hold the Dark 8/10 Some of the scenes in this are bloody churning. Falling Down 10/10 First watched this movie over 25 years ago and thought it average at best but after watching it again for me it's a masterpiece. The Devil's Own. 8/10 Another film that's gotten better with age.
  7. Vote for your goal of the 3rd round. Current votes % in brackets Barry's (31%) goal was decent and Silva's (10%) was okay but Tsaroulla (25%) and Justin's (14%) are the only winners for me. The clue is in the title Goal of the 3rd Round not Goal of the 3rd round taking players age and experience in to account. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55622537
  8. Vardy overtakes Muzzy for most Premier league appearances in a Leicester City shirt
  9. Nice 200/1 treble at Newmarket today for King Power Racing.
  10. Aw that's sad news mate. Used to have some great nights with them two. I've been strictly local for about 10 years mate. Saying that I moved about ten miles away from it in December and haven't been since. Never beat the Full Moon for a local though
  11. I'm not sure how lockdown restrictions on post codes would work. Most of us are aware of our postcode, but few of us will know it's boundaries?
  12. 53,000 Geordies meet in St James Park for a 'Geordies Are Not Stupid' convention. Alan Shearer addresses the crowd 'We are all here today to prove to the world that Geordies are not stupid. Can I have a volunteer please?' Gazza gingerly works his way through the crowd and steps up to the stage. Shearer asks him 'What is 15 plus 15?' After 15 or 20 seconds Gazza says, 'Eighteen!' Obviously everyone is a little disappointed. Then the Geordies start chanting, 'Give him another chance! Give him another chance!' Shearer says 'Well since we have a capacity crowd, world-wide press and global broadcast media here, I think we can give him another chance. So he asks 'What is 5 plus 5?' After nearly 30 seconds he eventually says, 'Ninety?' Shearer looks down and just lets out a dejected sigh. Everyone is disheartened and Gazza starts crying. But then the 53,000 Geordies begin to yell and wave their hands shouting, 'GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE! GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE!' Shearer, unsure whether he is now doing more harm than good eventually says, 'What is 2 plus 2? 'Silence hangs over the stadium. Gazza closes his eyes, and after a whole minute eventually says, 'Four?' Pandemonium breaks out throughout the stadium as the Geordie crowd stand to a man, wave their arms, stomp their feet and scream 'GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE! GIVE HIM ANOTHER CHANCE!'
  13. Some bloke accused me of stalking his wife. Cheeky twat should look out, I know where he lives!
  14. You still strutting your stuff Rick Think we lived in Caspers late 80s. Remember the midweek nights when all the city players would go in there. Had a few words with a few of them after they played shit...which was often under Pleat. Pleat's daughter was a regular down there. What was the name of the Rod Stewart lookalike and his mate good lads they were snazzy dressers. You and Paul gave them a run for their money in the fashion stakes mind
  15. Queen Power in the next at Goodwood with two other horses with Blue in their name in the field...nailed on forecast surely!!!
  16. You wouldn't think there were 11 other players on the pitch trying to win as well would you. I think they're called the opposition!
  17. Nope it's been like this all day.
  18. I've got a Leicester and Newport double in the handicap betting both at around 14/1 so 200/1 ish double. I haven't checked but they both must be up there.
  19. Anyone on Filbert Street in the 6.45 at Southwell? Won at 13/2.
  20. Yeh I thought 150/1 was too big for a bookie to be giving that price at 3-0. It's been 9000 games sonce the last 9-0 is so at kick off the odds should have been similar 200/1 is the most you can get at most bookies though
  21. Someone I know had a fiver on 9-0 during half time at 33/1.
  22. Commentator just said that had a goal not been scored then the ref could have let play continue so he actually did the right thing...now I'm confused!
