When you see a friendly team line up you often see “trialist” in the line up. I read “Cover” as someone standing in and then realised it’s his actual name. How come I’ve never heard of him before? -
Few clubs in the Premier League make significant purchases in January. Especially when they aren't part of the rich six and the asking price is upwards of £30m. We shall see
-
Stay in the Championship and that sort of thing could become a perennial reality
-
You could argue that Brighton fit that description, although it could go either way from here. I suspect that he was attempting to avoid language like “big” club or “top six”. Anyway, good update, and basically summarises what we’ve all been saying in the previous 27 pages

How would Sensi help? He’s only 5’6”

There is a huge difference. These players all left a club that had just been relegated, in the summer window, for teams that were still in the Premier League. Not to mention the necessity for LCFC to survive on reduced revenues. Now we’re talking about a player leaving in the January window from a team in the middle of a promotion push. A pivotal player in a team currently in charge of its own destiny and with a good chance of an immediate return to the Premier League. It doesn’t feel like good business unless we really are desperate financially

Well Africa is an area 3 times the size of Europe containing 54 separate, sovereign, states and 1.2 billion people so it’s quite possible that some of them, somewhere, use a different calendar to the Gregorian one. In fact Ethiopia do. But as Ndidi is Nigerian, some 5000km away from Ethiopia, I would suggest that Ndidi couldn’t use that as an excuse

It literally makes no sense to sell in January and, although we’ve taken some poor turns as a club, I can’t remember us selling a key asset mid season for a long time. Sell for £30m now or hope for promotion and get £100m+ in extra revenues. I can’t really understand it from the players point of view either. If we were a team who weren’t in the mix maybe, but we’re right in it. In fact we’re leading the charge at the moment. If he waits to the summer he can see what progress we’ve made and probably have many better options than Brighton. European football? They’re currently battling for a Europa League or conference place. They really wouldn’t be that far ahead of us IF we go up. FFP will ensure that Brighton fall back into the pack some point soon like it does all the clubs outside the rich six. Makes no sense and I’ll be disappointed and angry if it happens. Unfortunately that doesn’t mean it won’t!

Yes. Quite possible with 18 games left to play.

I just wonder how many people who are expressing their outrage have led clean lifestyles. I wonder whether some have had a pint and thought it’s ok. I wonder whether some have got pissed the night before and driven the next day. I wonder if some regularly go over the 30 mile speed limit in built up areas. I wonder if some have executed a dangerous driving manoeuvre putting themselves and others at risk. I wonder if some have lost concentration when speaking on the phone whilst driving No. I bet they’re all totally clean and condemning a lad in his twenties from a position of total impunity. Send him on a drink drive awareness course. Get him the help he needs if he has wider problems with alcohol. Warn him of his future responsibility and consequences if he does it again. Move on

I don’t know all the ins and outs of what’s happened here, but the predictable self righteous overload is already weighing very heavily on this thread. I’m just very frustrated that it’s a distraction we could have well done without when we’re looking at options in the midfield area. Hamza’s never been the solution there, but he might have been part of it with Casadei gone, Ndidi unfit and Praet seemingly a waste of a squad place. Oh well!

You can get lost in the Championship if you don’t bounce back quickly
-
I usually get very annoyed with people who state that we shouldn’t bother with cup competitions, but I kind of see their point this season. We just can’t afford significant injuries with a light squad and the league is everything this year. I do, however, still want us to win the game as I always do. I just want us to do it with a squad full of the back up players. It’s ideal for them to keep march fit and ready for when they’re needed. A workout for Stolarczyk, Coady, Doyle, Akgun, Albrighton and Vardy here would be ideal. Maybe even Praet if he can be arsed. Hopefully do just enough to get through and then get another winnable draw at home so we can go again with the same strategy
