  1. Quorn 2 - 0 RC Warwick A pre-match spat on Twitter between Home Secretary and Away Manager livened up the proceedings a little but the game didn’t quite live up to the hype. Warwick rattling the bar twice but eventually succumbed to an absolute Rocket from Captain Rico and Jordan Clarke grabbing the 2nd minutes from time. 21st clean sheet of the season is absolutely ridiculous at Step 4 with a budget similar to that of Step 6 Clubs. Onto tomorrow and a local derby up the Butthole
  2. Been keeping a close eye on the Pilgrims given Quorn had young Striker Luca Alonzi on loan. The loan ended and the idea was to give him more game-time. But given the current situation, staying up is priority and rightly so. Hell of a change in form. Great to see
  3. Loughborough Students 0 - 1 Quorn 100 Goals up for this season. 30 wins. 21 Clean Sheets. It’s easy to switch off now the league is done and dusted but with the club aiming for 100 points for the season, Beswick clearly isn’t allowing any let up. Loughborough clearly waiting for the end of term holidays as making a game of football competitive clearly wasn’t their objective today. A scrappy game with both sides lacking the answers in the final third. Grantham working tirelessly as the lone man upfront. Bello & Fyfe busy in midfield and the back four their usual tight self. Ironic that the goal came from a set piece. Centre back Frizelle meeting a corner unmarked at the back post. Facilities at Loughborough as you would expect as possibly the best in the league. Stunning ground. Abnormally long Sausage Rolls with a poor meat to pastry ratio. Proof you can’t get everything right
  4. Quorn v Loughborough Students away this Saturday if I can get out of being taxi to and from a kids Party held at the ridiculously selfish time of 3-4:45 Ventured out to watch Quorn v Ashby Ivanhoe in last night LMFYL league game. Lad up front for Quorn currently second top goal scorer in the Senior League playing for Aylestone Park Res. According to source, they have some serious young players coming thru
  5. It has to be the case that we can’t afford to pay him off. Can’t be any other reason whatsoever
  6. Watching this remind me of my old gaffer the sadly departed Leicester Legend, Dave Moore. Back in 1997 when managing our Sunday side, when conceding he’d scream ”you’re all cvnts and you’re all on drugs” Only slight issue is cvnts are useful
  7. Genuinely praying for a fan riot. reality will be a 5-0 defeat and about 1000 left at the end clapping them off
  8. Darlaston Town 0 - 3 Quorn A journey up the M6 resulting in a Performance worthy of champions. Tbh it was a good reconnaissance mission for next season’s away trips in Step 3 whichever division that may be. The M6 being a kind as it usually is forcing us into a detour around Walsall Ring Road. Great little set-up at Darlo. The Home Team forming a guard of honour before kick off which was well received. Not much in the two teams for the first 20 or so before Quorn started to get a foot in the game. Billy Kee rolling back the years with a bullet header from a Corner for Quorn’s first. Closely followed up with a good second from the ever lovely Cain Noble. Young Oscar Marshall getting the finisher before time. Everything today is what I love about non-league. Visiting grounds you never would usually. Chats with the players. I enjoyed a chat with the Darlo Manager ‘Big Dean’ who’s a top, top fella. Hopefully they’ll build on this season. Roll on next week v Rugby Town and the Trophy lift.
  9. I won’t lie, I don’t watch a lot of our Women’s Team by virtue of it isn’t on TV. Was that an average performance, below or above? Genuinely intrigued
  10. Seem to be contriving to give the ball away at every opportunity possible.
  11. Sunderland at home in the MON era. Never been that cold ever up in the Double Decker
  12. Quorn 3 - 0 Wellingborough War of attrition in the first 20 minutes Wellingborough clearly coming to have a go at Quorn who reverted back to their favoured 4-3-3 formation. Quorn grew into the game and got their reward with Paddy Webb grabbing the first. A quick double salvo from Webb and the ever improving Alonzi on loan from Boston effectively ending the game at HT. Open play from both teams in the second half resulting in chances no one could put away. Full Time arrived and an anxious 7 minute wait for the news to filter through that Corby only managed a 0-0 draw against Coleshill. Queue the celebrations that we’ve been waiting for for weeks. Quorn are champions of Northern League Premier Midlands. Well done to all at the club. What a season
  13. Local boy. FA Cup winner. Treated like shit. Deserves some respect on his name
  14. We had a player called David Bell? why don’t I remember this?
  15. I had Hoijland anytime and Man Utd win bet builder. Cashed out at HT like the F word I am (shout out Doug Towland), as couldn’t be arsed to invest energy into anything present moment LCFC. Happy I got the see the 1-1 from 1985 on Big Match revisited yesterday. We are rubbish. But we all know this anyway
  16. Hinckley LR 0 - 1 Quorn Not one for the scrapbook but one win closer to the title in what was another potential Banana skin with regard to maintaining a 100% record away from home. Quorn deploying an unusual but tactical 4-4-2 formation resting manager Beswick. A lively start with Notts County Academy prospect Zhani Burgess grabbing the final touch on the only goal after 8 minutes. Allsopp with his usual trademark stunning save keeping the score in Quorn’s favour till HT. The 2nd Half showing the same industry from both teams but lacking the killer finish in front of goal. 5 points needed. Potentially wrapping it up next week against Wellingborough at home
  17. AFC Rushden & Diamonds 0 - 3 Quorn Tuesday Night under the lights and a massive three points which should all but wrap up the league for Quorn. Now only 8 points required from the last 8 games dependant on Corby winning all their games. A sandy pitch did nothing to stop Quorn's superiority in general play. Paddy Webb getting the first after a breakaway and a good thru ball from the impressive Goncalves. Allsopp in goal pulling off 2 top level reflex saves just before the half ensured Quorn went into the break ahead. Billy Kee continued his rejuvenated form in front of goal with the 2nd after good work again from Goncalves. Kee turning provider to set Conclaves up for the third after a volley from Webb. Tetlow and Frizelle snuffing out Diamond's in-form attack. Noble unplayable at times. Fyfe top class in midfield. Nothing less than a 8/10 for all the starting 11. With games at Home against bottom table sides Rugby and Lye, it could be a case of when rather than if
  18. Quorn 6-0 Bedworth Scoreline reflected the gulf between the sides at both ends of the table. Indeed it could and should have been more but for the semi-heroics of the Bedworth keeper. There have been worse sides that Bedworth at the Stotto this season. Billy Kee showing his class the 1 change from last week by Manager Beswick paying dividends. Outstanding link up play and all three goals of high quality. GK Allsopp rarely called into action. Damage done after 18 minutes with Kee, Beswick and a cross shot from Notts County Academy start Burgess finding the top corner from just inside the byline. Alonzi continuing good form in front of goal finishing things off. A sizeable league break follows. Then down to the business end to wrap what should be inevitable up.
  19. Positives Quorn are at home tomorrow
  20. Quorn 3 - 0 Coleshill Bit late this from the weekend Bit of a nervy start from Quorn who struggled to find a rhythm maybe a little nervous after last weeks draw against Grantham. Alonzi being asked to play the hold-up role which wasn't really working and Captain Rico not getting on the ball a lot seemed to disjoint the Home Team. Coleshill quite quick on the break. First real change to the G.O.A.T in space brings the 1st. After that it was a case of if but when. Alonzi with a great finish under pressure then Billy Dee coming on causing issues leads to a penalty made by Rodgers/Dave. Gaffer finishing off in style. Back 4 solid despite missing two key starters. Burgess from Grace Dieu looks assured at Step 4 as was M.O.M Tetlow who went on to start for Hinckley AFC on the Monday. Good to see another 200+. Last season that's a 150 crowd so attendances up. Other results helping meaning 7 from 10 needed at a maximum starting with Bedworth on Saturday
  21. Without scrolling thru the thread, is the issue not the money that could be recouped to stave off FFP issues, but a looking transfer ban for when we inevitably get relegated? Sell these now and we can’t get others in?
  22. Really enjoyed the Corby lot. Proper set of fans. Unlike some in our division
  23. Contrary to what people think, there’s no big budget at Quorn. Spalding were paying between £10k-£12k a week last year. Quorn’s budget is around £2200. The Chairman runs a VERY tight ship. For every £350 a week player, there’s a £120 player happy to give their all. Squad are a tight knit bunch. Manager has them playing the right football at high pace and has made very astute signings to strengthen last years squad. Key players from last season have improved. Billy Kee sits on the bench for petrol money. That says all you need.
  24. Quorn 3 - 0 Corby Town Great atmosphere down the Stotto for the 1st v 2nd shootout with over 500 in attendance. Corby bringing good numbers and overall, a top bunch. Plenty of noise and banter. A proper unit. Quorn rampant 1st half the ever outstanding Cain Noble with a brace. 2nd half Corby came out the blocks but hardly troubled the rustler Tom Alsopp in goal. The G.O.A.T has two chances to kill the game but eventually a sublime strike from Zak Goodson killed the game on 90 mins. Season far from over but a huge step towards promotion. And another huge tick in the ‘non-league is better than elite football’ box
