  1. Game of Thrones Sons of Anarchy But a special mention for The Wire. Some of the tech in it is a bit dated now but the characters are brilliant and the story is gripping.
  2. Couldn't have put it better myself.
  3. Season 9 has plenty of potential storyline. Negan is still alive so there are plenty of options with him. The Whisperers are nailed on to make their appearance (apparently). There is the infighting that is coming, led by Maggie, Jesus and Daryll against Rick. The weird woman with her two sidekicks who gave the book of knowledge, she'll feature I'm sure. And why hasn't anyone mentioned the helicopters? I'm looking forward to it.
  4. I think you are right. Also, there is a lot out there so perhaps too much choice? It raises an entirely different question too, around what is the best way of protecting our own children? Restricting and monitoring their use, or teaching them about the dangers and giving them some trust. A topic for another day methinks.
  5. I totally agree with @NorthfieldsFox. The point he is trying to make is that the company offering the service should be compelled to take greater steps to verify their users' identities. That's a good idea. But even if that didn't happen, there is still data that the companies hold that could be used to identify the real user. I think if someone in the UK uses an Australian site (for instance) to abuse someone else in the UK, then the Australian company should be compelled to share the data it already holds with UK agencies instead of hiding behind Australian legislation saying "we respect the privacy of all our users and won't share anything with you". That's a crazy situation. Right?
  6. There are people out there who have children and don't even know what an email address is. Try telling them it's simple to use. And if it was that simple why do a tiny minority of people use them? Please explain how your internet usage would be hampered? And I view it as safeguarding people. People doing wrong get punished.
  7. Everyone should watch doyoutrustthiscomputer.org 78 minutes about AI with an interesting piece on social media and the control it has over you.
  8. No offence taken. And none given here. It's kinda funny actually that you have taken the steps to limit, restrict and control your own daughter's access to the internet but the thought of the government stepping in to protect its people in a less intrusive way goes against your beliefs. I doubt any parent knows their teenager's true internet activity but good for you if you do. Most parents are not so fortunate and unfortunately sometimes things go wrong. Bad things happen on the internet even to children of very tech savvy parents. And it doesn't make them bad parents either. I wish all parents were as clued up as you but until that happens, I doubt an "I'm alright Jack" attitude will be the best solution.
  9. We are still in the infancy of social media. Facebook is barely a teenager and Snapchat has only been around since 2013. They have fueled a revolution in how we communicate with each other and the world. It has grown so quickly. This digital age is governed by analogue laws. Eventually I am sure the laws (and regulation) will catch up. In the meantime, there are some large parts of the internet that are like the wild west.
  10. I take on board your point and I know lots of people will agree with you. But in my experience, they usually change their mind when they have a 13 year old daughter duped into sending naked selfies to a paedophile and then get told that the company holding the data that might identify the paedo won't or can't share the data because of a lack of verification process or regulation. One of the problems is that the internet companies are governed by the laws of the country in which they are based. So US companies do things differently to Canadian companies and Australian and UK. I am tending to think that there should be some sort of global internet laws, or at least an international code of ethics.
  11. The internet is a force for good but it is too easily open for abuse. It is simply too easy to open multiple accounts with completely Micky Mouse details and never be traced. Then go and abuse kids, post extreme material or revenge porn. The minimum age for most social media is 13 as per the terms and conditions of each site. Yet tons of kids younger than that get profiles. The reason for the age limit is usually in line with US law and how it very strict with how firms like Facebook and Snapchat handle data of kids, it is so restrictive that the firms just say that their service is not for children, yet there is zero verification process to go through other than providing a date of birth that fits their t&c. The fact is that there are too many children being abused by unverified abusers. I would welcome some form of regulation to make it more difficult for abusers to abuse and abusees to be abused.
  12. I seem to remember a thread like this a couple of years ago. Add teams to the list once it is mathematically impossible for them to catch us. Not sure there'll be quite so many teams on this year's list, but I'll get the ball rolling: West Bromwich Albion And for the pessimists amongst you, we can't catch the following: Man City Man Utd Liverpool
  13. Personally I can't stand the place. I can tollerate it for 24 hours, but more than that and I start to get a bit mardy. How anyone can live there is beyond me.
  14. You probably won't get served by a British person in those places either.
  15. Very useful information. Thanks for sharing. In all seriousness, I hope the victim is OK and I hope they catch the baddies. Make the video available to the cops.
  16. Not too shabby. Some missed opportunities for sure, but lots of teams can say that. More good than bad. I'm happy.
  17. Concentrate on the league.
  18. Iheanacho should have passed in front of Mahrez. Mahrez should have crossed it instead of taking three defenders on. Ndidi should have fouled Willian. Simpson should have run with Morata instead of getting sucked towards the ball. Bad goal to give away.
  19. West Brom by a mile. Long ball over his shoulder, weak foot, defender breathing down his neck, instinctively knew where the goal was. I haven't seen a better goal in years. The Liverpool goal is third for me. Brilliant. But the bounce slowed the ball right down. With the ball in front of him he was able to see the keeper off his line. Anyone drawing comparison between that and Van Basten's against Russia seriously needs their heads testing.
  20. Pitch invasion! Settled down then Burnley went 2-0 up hahahaha
  21. All kicking off at West Ham, gonna be sone stoppage time there!
  22. Free would of course be the best but I can imagine the waiting list would be obscene. My lad is 9 but could be 23 by the time he got to the front of the queue. I'm also a little sceptical about "free" lists as they are open to some abuse - sponsors, players friends/families etc. So, I don't have a massive problem with the club charging a premium on the experience. £600 is way too steep in my mind though. A £200 donation to the Foxes Foundation would be easier to swallow. I guess it is supply and demand. If people pay it, then the club (business) will charge it.

    Dogs

Well, I am pleased to announce that we did not get a dog and the situation has gone quiet. For now. Please don't think that I am a dog hater, I'm not. I just knew they take a lot of looking after and I don't have the time (or inclination) at this point in my life. I'm sure the conversation will come up again in the future but for now I have absolutely no regrets about not getting one. Thanks for all the comments!
  24. TWD has kind of backed itself into a corner. The story has gone a little stale now with no obvious way out. Realistically Negan needs to die but he is one of the best characters on the show (although not loving his recent softer side) I saw some rumours at the beginning of series 7 that the Whisperers were going to make an appearance and fans of the comic were excited by that prospect but no sign of them yet. It needs something to shake it up.
  25. Focus on getting players to run further and faster, increase passing accuracy (a biggy), improve shots on target ratio, increase tackles, increase interceptions, increase headers won. Do this and the results will look after themselves.
