It’s a long time since I’ve witnessed such an inept performance from a centre back (even taking Faees into account). This guy can’t play football at all. Dreadful in possession, positionally naive (no cover provided for Akuko who was up against pace yesterday) and seemingly no stomach for a fight either. Whoever scouted him should be sacked immediately. Why do we play him at all? - he’s got no future here. Simply dreadful - even the pass that put Riis in early in the game was a mishit pass to Alves. He was overplayed in the final season here by Rodgers and physically wasn’t up to it as the season progressed. He attracted huge criticism towards the end of his time here but he was some player for us at his best.

I’ve been backing our opponents for many weeks now (I know it’s not good form but this team is that poor, that it’s a licence to print money). A team that cannot defend at all, has no goals in them is not a recipe to win matches. Piss poor

He also described the performance today as ‘outstanding’. I know it’s a low bar that this squad has set but it was for the most part far from outstanding. Yes, they huffed and puffed 2nd half but the lack of of quality as a team is simply staggering and one look at the bench is enough to know that there is nobody on there capable of changing a game in a positive manner. Incapable of escaping the drop for me sadly.

But there is no progressive pass available. Midfielders bar James barely make a suitable run. BDCR gets blown over if it’s windy which leaves two options in Ayew & Daka. How depressing must it be for our wingers? We have to rely on them simply cutting in & hitting a ‘worldie’ but that’s not to say that they are both incredibly wasteful. Yesterday was just depressing.

I don’t think that he had a great game on Saturday but technically he’s head and shoulders above most of our squad. Imagine being a midfielder for us and see that your forward options are the likes of Daka, Ayew, BCDR when you’ve received the ball. He’s playing with absolute duffers and the frustration is apparent. He was different class when he last appeared in this league under Enzo but he had KDH & Vardy as outlets to work with then.
