Surrey have it easy with location and the type of people they can attract, but they really put on some good initiatives to boost attendances too. Beer festivals, community outreach, making space available for remote working etc. There were a group of schoolchildren on a trip at Grace Road last Friday. Good to see.

Yep. Saw his List A and Championship debuts last year and he looked like he'd been doing it for a decade. Don't think he's yet been tested by someone having a proper go, which can destroy any young spinner, but you feel nothing would faze him. He'll play for England while he's still a teenager, I reckon.

Yeah, likely to be an ongoing thing with the four Midlands sides as it makes them decent cash. Derbyshire are very keen on it and it's technically their home game. Clubs still wanted to market it as the opener but then the ECB schedulers went and screwed them over with the fixture list.
