Great today. I had a feeling he would get lots of room to work his magic. Need him to keep settling and getting these sorts of performances in more physical games.

He will know more than anyone he needs a performance that shows some energy, grit and desire. He'll be furious (I hope) if we roll over for a belly tickle again.

I noticed on the touchline there was another coach coming out and shouting instructions. On one occasion Ruud looks over with an element of surprise. This guy needs his own team. It's like giving Lewis Hamilton a driving instructors car and asking him to win a race.

Yep- moments like drove me mad. The single thing that could have made a difference from moment 1 was the speed of pass. We always take too many touches and make the same pass...but with defenders back in position. The amount times people are out wide, and available.....but instead of giving it to them we take 4 touches and then give it to them. So painfully basic!

The only thing that's slightly concerning me is that in the second half we couldn't even muster up 5 minutes of intensity. They came back out with Winks and produced a little more by way of tidy side to side passes. If the players simply can't get motivated it's a different/deeper issue.....but at no point was I on the edge of my seat thinking the players understood the seriousness of the situation?

Decent? What's that mean? Nice guy? Friendly? I'd be a nice guy if I was paid his wage to turn out his level or performances too! If he's that decent he'll refund the crowd today.......

I agree. When I was watching Wout and JJ each week churning out 3/10 performances it was really alarming. Equally we have seen positive moments from Benny and Bilal but neither is consistent enough or able to dominate their position....they're young and developing of course. Two of our big threats from last season were from wingers ... I've not been impressed with either of those barring a couple of moments. Then to round it off our signings have been utter dross. Signing BDCR and Ayew is really questionable.

Yep you're right unfortunately. But just where my head is at.....the recruitment and management of the squad incomings/outgoings is going to be my blame area now. It's not on RVN if we lose the next 5 games. He's got a system. A vision. He's respected and you want find many a better playing pedigree than him.....it's not his fault that we still have Danny Ward and Hamza in the ranks. I seriously worry that he's been told there is money in January to later discover there isn't.....its happened to Enzo and Rodgers.

I think it was both. My feeling is if we can't sort it under Ruud you have then had so many managers with different styles etc and Ruud seems to have the respect of the players. The manager excuse has run its course.

At that point....if we get there (4 defeats on the spin) - it's not on yet another manager. It's on the players- whether it's under performance or recruitment or squad balance etc etc is a different story. But we will be at a point where we can't just keep blaming the manager. We have had a number of people coaching the team since Covid and we have been on a slide broadly. There is a deeper issue.
