  1. If Enzo didn’t think we had a few financial issues then that says a lot about him, even if the Board told him a few fibs. It was glaringly obvious to anyone within half a million miles of football or anyone who can do basic maths.
  2. We did once upon a time! This guy sounds like an Italian sweet snack. Is he any good?
  3. “Berg berg wiiiiiijjjjjnnnnn” to the tune of UB40 Red red wine. You heard it here first and now you can’t get it out of your head.
  4. 4 goals and 1 assist in 15 games for Burnley he’s hardly setting the world alight. Haha but it’s an improvement on Daka. Jesus.
  5. We’re clearly going after third or fourth targets. Maybe fifth or sixth looking at how long it’s taking to get signings in. It’s the market we’re in sadly. I would think in the world of football we have a reputation for incompetence and an impending points deduction. I remember the third or fourth choice thing coming out on the ‘Sunderland til I die’ documentary on Netflix. That ended well… 🤣
  6. I got chatting to someone who works in sports law a few years ago, and he said he couldn’t believe how amateur a lot of ‘top’ clubs backroom operations are. He used the example of Bournemouth who at this point had employed the same small number of local people for decades, and how it was a bit of a joke how amateur it was. I’d love to know how we come across to people who work in the sports sector, because it all seems very amateur from our point of view. It’s the decline as well and dismantling that’s gone on. We once had the most talked about recruitment in the country, if not the world. We once had a leading sports science approach. Everyone talked about wanting to emulate us as a club. Clearly that’s not the case now and it wasn’t that long ago! It’s got very stale. Why has Rudkin never been poached by a top club, like a lot of other backroom staff? If you’re stale and stand still in modern football you fall behind, but we haven’t stood still - I think we’ve taken big steps backward with some ridiculous decision-making that has snookered us financially. A few people here keep on referring to the current ownership. That is wrong. Top is not Vichai, and it’s time for a change - if only to get competent football people in the backroom operation.
  7. Genuinely not heard that before 🤣
  8. I didn’t think we would do very well last season. It could have been a disaster when you think about it. But it worked out. I’m as glass half empty as anyone, but I’m not panicking just yet.
  9. Tino Asprilla was Colombian pal
  10. If we do sign him maybe we should have a quality of chant to match the mood of the fans and calibre of player (i.e. 💩). How about… “Knowing me, knowing Ayew, ahaaaaaaa”
  11. Absolutely. And more than just a concourse bar named after him.
  12. And came back to try and salvage Rodger’s mess. Hero. Vichai, now Shakey. Be great if at the Spurs game we invite back former staff and players who worked with him. I hope the club do something meaningful to pay tribute.
  13. 100% - thanks Shakey. That game is something I’ll be telling the Grandchildren about in 20-30 years time. He saved us from getting stuck in a relegation battle that year as well. And let’s not forget he came back with Dean Smith to try and save us once more. I met him in the high street in Copenhagen. A true gent who has happy to chat to us. RIP Craig 😔
  14. Rudkin will probably instruct his assistant to make contact with Reiss Nelson’s team and the outcome will be an improved contract for Ben Nelson.
  15. It’s one thing getting transfer income, but if you spaff it up the wall like us and Everton have done it’s actually corrosive and works against you. The top six can absorb a few crap big money deals and bad windows, but for others it can derail you. Enter Mr Jon Rudkin… Honestly how this current regime is still in place is a joke. We had no right to get relegated - a bad year would have been 15th but you would have taken it in hindsight. The whole strategy of buying ‘ready made’ talent to perform immediately is unrealistic for a club like us as it costs too much, and makes the margin of error and getting deals wrong hugely costly. My only consolation is that it’s not just us toward the top of that list for whom it has backfired - Everton, Southampton…
  16. Ruddy brilliant listen. All points are totally agreeable to most of us I would think. Beyond a shit show on all fronts really, even down to the kit which is disgusting. On the Ayew link - yes I’d prefer to go elsewhere, and his goals/assists record is dire, but he does know how to scrap and survive in an unfancied team. I’m NOT shouting from the rooftops about him, but I don’t think it’s bad as being made out by many. More of an Elvis Hammond than a Marko Futacs if that makes any sense? Special shout out to the South Lakes Safari Zoo if anyone’s ever up Barrow way as well!
  17. I’ve reflected on this Ayew link, and I see the club and league position he’s been involved with… and frankly I’ll take it. Therefore I’ll take him, I suppose…
  18. If we sign him he’ll be the Franz Carr type signing of this window
  19. I thought Cooper had him on loan at Forest, but I think it was the other one
  20. Maybe we should employ someone who is experienced in financial discipline and budgeting - like that Robert Chode (former IFS and OBR economist).
  21. Why was it in Chesterfield anyway?
  22. Jesus… another link demonstrating how far we’ve sunk.
  23. Given the rumours of the treasury abolishing 1 and 2 penny coins I think we’re resigned to keeping this joker for the final year of his contract.
