  1. They should have done the conf statement early Nov to avoid the problem. Nothing to stop them doing it early. Then they’d have months to sort that ID stuff out.
  2. They police the event as they should do. however, this event was ‘un policeable ‘ but no one could admit that for lots of reasons Mac - many fans sing about horrible stuff. They don’t get banned for it. @ClaphamFox - it was maccabi tel aviv if the authorities don’t address the elephant in the room here then they leave space for people like farage to step in.
  3. the Birmingham thing was inevitable anyone who had actually followed what happened in Amsterdam knew that the report was fabricated. Hence the decision SAG made was bound to be flawed. are MTV fans angels ? Absolutely not. are they any worse than lots of clubs across Europe who have not been banned attending matches here ? Absolutely not WMP were in an unenviable position where they knew that Israeli fans in that area for the game would be a target for some unpleasant elements of the local community. Even if they bused in those who had travelled from the airport and straight back again afterwards, that would be a difficult target to protect. Add in that uk based Israelis would likely attend and they were stuck between a rock and a hard place. hence - conformation bias and they grabbed anything they could to back up their position. the basic point here is that the Israeli fans simply couldn’t be protected but that isn’t something that either the police or govt can admit. So the chief constable will be the fall guy here - I suggest some local politicians are just as culpable.
  4. It was pretty clear his foot was beyond the keeper or the defender. Only needed to be one of them. can’t believe it took them so long to draw the lines.
  5. He condemned it days ago when most who are criticising him probably didn’t even know what was happening !
  6. Trans Jordan was drawn way bigger than it needed to be ……….. who needs that much desert ?
  7. Wonder if he has time to get into the Belgian squad ? that’s a big carrot and may concentrate his attitude to succeed out there. I wonder if the option fee is loaded on things like ligue 1 appearances and selection for the world cup squad. seen quite a spread on option fee. From our perspective we might be thinking if he makes it to the states and actually performed then we’d get €10m from somewhere. We may have turned down an obligation at €5m !
  8. There are protests near the Iranian embassy with British based Iranians who are clearly anti regime. But there doesn’t seem to be much sympathy for the protesters in Iran - shutting down the internet has been important in that because there will be some pretty awful videos that haven’t got out yet.
  9. on bbc website re sink hole that appeared in Harpenden I mean they didn’t really get sucked into publishing that - surely ! Hertfordshire Council added: "We are aware of a sink hole in Park Avenue North, Harpenden, this morning and our Hertfordshire Highways team are on site along with Affinity Water. "Park Avenue North, is currently closed for residents' safety and while we investigate the cause." A spokesperson for Affinity Water said: "We're aware of the situation and are looking into it."
  10. Dykes is a poor man’s Carlton morris tel wants first team football We’re offering football combination level ….
  11. This isn’t new ? I mean even he wouldn’t put that out the day before he’s due to decide what he’s doing!
  12. We should start a Facebook group !
  13. Seems like the momentum in the Iranian protests has eased in the face of govt crackdowns trump only likes to back a winner so he may not now intervene. of course once the internet comes back up there will be hundreds of v unpleasant videos - he’ll just bat away criticism of his comments that he wouldn’t allow that to happen on the basis that he got the regime to step back from doing even worse.
  14. I think he committed 3 red card offiences !
  15. Inter get a var penalty v napoli so dodgy
  16. I think the Americans (well the right anyway) are expecting fusion to work and be commercial en masse within 25 years. Too late ? Probably for a lot of people but then if fusion can work we’ll have affordable A/C everywhere that wants it. Across large parts of the globe we’d become effectively an indoor species for much of the year.
  17. Would like to see aluko have a good last half hour
  18. If they keep the secret traitor next series then I wonder if they’ll not tell them who the actual traitors are. Can’t work out how good/bad the players are this series didn’t understand the obsession that the traitors had to know who the secret traitor was. Just accelerated stuff when it didn’t need to and several more faithful could have been murdered in the meantime. And as a group, they keep making deductions that have no basis in logic. If they recruited Harriet then I reckon they have a good chance of getting to a place where last six are 50/50 faithful and traitors
  19. I’m not seeing this Greenland thing as black and white as some. the states and Denmark have an ongoing arrangement whereby they can station as many troops and whatever hardware they want to on the territory. other things are at play here. could be that the administration aren’t convinced that Europe and they are going to have a strong relationship going forward so cannot rely on that agreement being renewed/continued could be that this is a tactic to force the Europeans into bringing forward their military spending increases. That also plays well for the Americans as they are the largest producers of defence equipment. im struggling to accept that a president who is so transactional would risk losing the ‘support’ of a massive alliance and see the end of NATO when it’s simply not strategically necessity to do that.
  20. it’s a strange one Go back to the seventies and it wasn’t a problem of the left it was a problem of the right but now the right have adopted the ‘my enemies enemy is my friend’ approach, they’ve moved away from hating the Jews. (The extreme right haven’t ) my view is that once the right realise that they don’t have any real argument to ‘other’ the Muslim population to a large enough section of the voting public then they’ll swiftly move onto another group which could easily be the Jews (despite there only being 250k in the uk). It’s an old playbook - the uk voter always seemed able to see when they were being played but I suspect enough of them can be now.
  21. Reckon you can - especially at close range but the ricochet aspect is relevant
