How would that have been twisted by the media after the events of Tuesday ? and imagine if they had put out a statement saying that the chancellor was absent for personal reasons ? She probably told them that she’d cope but she wasn’t able to. If she has serious issues then an announcement early on Wednesday that the chancellor was unwell and would be off for a few days would have possibly done the job - but we don’t know that her problems didn’t accelerate late morning Wednesday ?? All conjecture but you don’t get to the level she has in politics and look like that without it being something outside of her role being responsible.

For players who have relegation wage clauses then I assume wages become less of an issue. For those on 80k that will now drop to 50k, finding a club willing to pay 40k in Europe may be more achievable. That would mean we only have to cover 500k on a consequential fee reduction. Whilst that’s still a tricky job, it’s miles easier than last summer where the buying club would be looking to take 4m off the price to cover the difference over the two years left on the contracts.
