And they keep on letting him play the way. Nelson plays just like him now sadly. Zero urgency but a desire to play a certain way which they are unable to.
-
JV back in the squad and we are playing even slower and more stupid balls into crowded areas instead of a quick ball to an unmarked winger. Braindead
-
Maybe JV can slow it down even more and so he can pass to Ayew to not control. Ricardo is such a dull player now. Always so slow with throw ins and sends the ball back which sets them off to piss around.
-
It's not about what they add to upfront, it's the impact that Ayew has around the pitch. He drops deep as he wants to get the ball and will either fall over and cheat or run down a blind alley. He is unable to control the Enzo ball that JV insists on playing, yet people still say his strength is hold up play. Watch his positioning today. Drops deep so we have no focus up front, drifts to the wing to get the ball from Mav and does nothing with it He constantly cheats rather than play football which plenty of times ends up with us getting countered, he then hacks away at the opposition giving away free kicks.
-
At this point I would settle for him to pass the ball to a player ahead, cross first time or run into space to receive the ball.
-
It's almost like you have watched our team and are choosing players where they will have more of an impact. He sets us up to fail with the player selection even before the tactics are applied. I'm actually jealous of him. Being paid well for a job he isn't very good at, has zero accountability for the weekly performances and zero oversight from management.
-
Brain dead manager. I really want to know what he thinks is working from his system and choices. It needs to be addressed to Top in duty free terms. He wouldn't allow his shop managers to put all the expensive handbags at the back of the shop see sales drop while his competition all put theirs at the front and have consistent sales.

Nelson is more athletic and not afraid to cross the halfway line like Thomas, the shame when he got in good positions high up the pitch he then played like Thomas and sent it backwards. I cant stand seeing our wingers come to a stand still, send the ball backwards only for it to be sent all the way back to Jakob. The obvious move is for the Mav or Fatawu to run ahead and the full back or midfield to just play the into that area. So many times the options are in front of them but they are too happy to turn backwards without even thinking.
-
Not because of his skillset but because he will cause less issues across the park than Ayew. The problem is JV and Okoli will keep passing to whoever is playing there, only for them to be unable to control the ball and cause counters. The opposition seem to be able to find aches of space behind our fullbacks, yet our wingers rarely attempt it preferring to try and ski everyone from the halfway line.
-
Nothing will change because Marti doesn’t know what to change, otherwise he would have already. They will be set up to fail from the start. Ricardo will always be out of position, Okoli can’t pass and too scared to do anything first time yet they keep playing the ball to him. JV will keep playing walking football and keep passing to Ayew who can’t control it. Diving and cheating to break up play, sadly it’s our limited attacks he stinks out. The wingers need to run and make themselves available in the space ahead, they won’t. Like for like subs and no adapting to the opposition if things aren’t working. He needs putting on gardening leave even if they can’t sack him.
-
It’s so annoying to see as their strengths are being ignored for whatever Marti thinks is good football. It’s not working so stick with the same thing over and over. Good management skills. As soon as Monga came on he was dropping back to the halfway line to get the ball with his back to goal, rather than looking to run ahead into the space and the full back just dink it over. Page looks more like a team player at the moment, shame the forwards look like they have never played football before or don’t want to pass to anyone else.
-
And all this with one of the most tactically lacking managers around. The youngsters are just getting thrown on and left to their own devices. Page has shown he’s a team player where as Monga is still making IG clips skinning his boys. Thats not his fault but the coaching staff and manager.

Soumare will be back next game to provide that killer back pass after spending 5 minutes playing side to side.

Wrexham 1-1 LCFC, post-match thread
Richmondfox replied to ClaphamFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Wrexham weren’t actually good, they just moved and looked to get players into space. Yet Marti keeps setting them up the same way and watching them do the same things. Subs to replace injuries, not to lift the game. He must have been happy to just struggle for a draw and hang on as he doesn’t know how to start let alone finish a game. It’s frustrating watching the wingers have to drop to the halfway line to get the ball then get zero support, instead of playing them into the space ahead. They have also became lazy and don’t go looking for areas to receive a pass. Every team we face does this about 20 times against us yet we look like it we’ve never seen a 1-2 before. You could change anyone for Ayew and start to see better results because they wouldn’t be dropping into other areas, diving, fouling and hogging the ball for nothing. Too much pissing around and sending it backwards than attempt something, only for it to be booted up and the ball is lost. -
That's a surprise. Ricardo can't keep up and tackle, Okoli misses the slide and Jakob gifts them with his save.
-
As long as they try and play Daka into space rather than expect his to control it with his back to goal.
-
None taken. I don't like Okoli because he's falling over and play acting, can't pass, stinking everything out and killing any momentum we might have. It's been 18 months and he still makes every pass too slowly after stuttering while he decides what to do.
-
Yes that's actually the reason. I thought you agreed at the BNP meeting. That's a joke, which I assume your response is too.
-
Marti will keep getting them trying to pass the ball to Ayew who has dropped all the way to the centre half to receive the ball from Hamza, then try it with Daka. It's created more goals for the opposition than actual chances for us.
-
The question is, do you think Marti realises Ayew is crap and the football he tries to play has more of a negative impact?
-
Okoli is just as unlikable as Ayew.
-
The youngsters will have more energy and drive. Less turning backwards and passing back. I would rather see mistakes from youngsters in the way up than the dross that these so called prom and international experienced plays are showing. The only downside would be Marti stinking this players out at an early age.
-
It's frustrating what Marti has done to this team tactically. We watch every team we play open us up on the wings. We've actually scored a few good goals with ease like that, yet we try it once per game if we are lucky. Pass to the winger and no one helps. Ayew gets the ball and he looks to do everything other than score or pass to his team mate.
-
Nelsons throws are worse than Thomas. Does he know that he can throw the ball quickly AND to a team mate.
-
Nelson now is just as boring. Drives forward with some pace, stops with space still ahead, turns around and sends it back.
