  1. Originally from Wigston Magna, taken to matches on the bus by Dad in the 50s. Years later, moving round with the job, I drove down from Bolton, then from Blackburn, then Preston, then Giggleswick (check it out!) and now, in retirement, from Cheddleton (near Stoke). My Season ticket compels me to attend - however dire the performance. Always first or second through the turnstile.
  2. So, the “European” teams all have to play the first round at home - cos Europe says so. That means they can’t be drawn against each other. And that can’t be challenged, it’s fixed. Match fixing?
  3. I haven’t been stung for the extra £25 for my Season Ticket this year.. On the other hand, when I wanted to renew my card at the beginning of the Season, the option of a replacement card was not offered. So, to watch my team this year cost me the price of the season ticket, - plus the cost of a (second hand) smart phone. Every home match for me is a 2 hour drive away, with the anxiety about whether the battery will hold up long enough to get me through the turnstile. 😤
  4. Try logging out, then logging back in. That worked for me

  7. @Lukeslaw Annie, I didn’t know that The DM had covered your story as part of its “Campaign to Stop the Gambling Predators”. I’m just wondering if they know about your petition and whether it’s worth a word to them about it. The DM has a wide circulation. Stay strong. .
  8. I’ve signed. Could you perhaps post a short piece, with the video link, on some or even all Premier League fans forums? Condolences on your loss and well done for speaking up.
  9. Many thanks for the info. All sorted now, as in “Rules which no longer apply” thread.
  10. Wycombe scored straight after a foul throw-in - shouldn’t have been in possession?

  12. Over the years I have noticed that a certain rule is being increasingly ignored and rarely observed. Linesman don’t see it, referees seem oblivious to it. I shout it out in J1, but fellow fans seem bemused and unaware of it. The last time I remember an illegal throw-in being pulled up was when Jon Moss, (2 seasons ago?) did a theatrical Tiller Girl manoeuvre , back leg raised to the horizontal, to bring the play back. It might seem unimportant, but the possession remains with the offending team, rather than being given to the other team. It could, conceivably , within a pass or two, lead to a goal being scored. Would VAR check it and intervene? I wasn’t going to make an issue of it, but I always promised that if I had a camera at the ready I would capture the moment. There were several examples of it at the Euros recently. This is the most outrageous. Enjoy!
  13. Sorry to muscle in but can you tell me how do I insert a picture from file into a posting?
  14. Has anyone tried to order a programme using this link? Any problems?
  15. Panic over, I got it sussed. To enter the ballot you have to “buy” a ticket for the ballot. Clear as mud!
  16. But the Ticket Ballots link is to this page for purchasing tickets. Is there a link to the ballot itself on this page? I’ve looked!
  17. How do I enter the ballot online? No obvious link on the website - except to try and purchase ballot tickets, which haven’t been allocated yet! T/P option 1 is log-jammed
  18. Just tuned in, 25 mins ago, to Super Sunday, Foxes v sheff utd. Sky haven’t mentioned Leicester yet. Arsenal, spurs, aplenty
  19. “This colossus of a Premier League game” 42 mins Martin Tyler
  20. If you’ve never seen it, watch the film ”Marvellous” - it’s on Youtube. You might just become a closet Potter 😊 (essential viewing for Keelites 67-72)
  21. I was there when the guy fell through the roof, but I thought it was Spurs. No idea of the date but more likely late sixties for me. See my post in “I was there!” thread

  23. Huddersfield 0-2 April 2014 : City on the march to promotion to PL. Procession of Cyclists entering the stadium before kickoff. Potentially ugly scenes at the end when seemingly the whole stand to our right suddenly emptied and home fans made for the end where City fans were standing. Needn’t have worried! The home fans stood on the pitch facing us - and applauded! My only concern was our own fans rushing down to the front and taking me with them. Not what you want at my age! This explains why ever since I have sat (very quietly) with home fans - at Burnley (just up the road from Preston, where I lived), and Bolton - yes, the night we lifted the Championship! Incidentally, that night, arriving early, I just missed the players getting off the coach, but did catch Top’s brother (?) I asked him if he was the Chairman, jokingly. I thanked him and his family, at length, for what they were doing for our club. He was very gracious, listened, smiled and then asked if I would mind repeating what I had said - for the camera. He said it would be broadcast on Thai TV! Not sure if it ever was.. Rather further back in time: I was there when an away (Spurs?) supporter fell through the skylight in the Popular stand. Anyone else remember this?
  24. I remember playing for Wigston Boys Club against Blaby Boys Club on Saffron Lane. We lost 12-0 and I’m pretty sure their centre forward got a hat-trick. His name? Peter Shilton who, apparently had insisted on playing out for once, so he might at least get a touch of the ball. Yes, Blaby really were that good in those days!
